We got 940 photos back.  They told us they usually deliver around that up to 1200. I saw your review... fyi, aside from the time we were doing actual shoots with them during the wedding, I didn't notice them around.  They're very good at being unobtrusive.  Their style is very organic and they don't overly give direction because they want the shots to be natural. That's kind of the nature of photo journalistic shots though.   I'm sure you've seen wedding photos where everyone looks ridiculously stiff because every little aspect has been placed by the photographer.  We did get direction though during the family photos, but again it was very natural.  They just gave everyone the general placement and let them feel comfortable.

We did do an engagement session with them, and that is precisely one of the reasons why they recommended we do one.  The cost was minimal, we got great pictures and we had the opportunity to get to know each other and their style of shooting.

I honestly wouldn't worry too much about how many pictures they will delivery.  I was a little worried when we got ours, but honestly, 900 some odd pictures is soooo over the top of what we would ever need or use.  There are more pictures than I know how to choose from for our album.

We didn't use HK but when we counted all of our photos we had 1063...and we were told the same thing between 800 to 1500 photos from our photographer.

thanks that really puts my mind at ease. i think DH is worried more about it than me because until he said something, i wasnt worrying. haha way to go DH :P

i figured they blended in more, i just think i expected them to be a little more organized for the formals instead of just "trying" things and then saying they didnt work and have us try something else.

but im still excited to get them....just going to be a while....they said about 8 weeks since its wedding season and theyre realy backed up!!

Umm... thinking back on our day, I wouldn't say that the family shots were necessarily unorganized, but we did do a bit of directing telling them who we wanted in pictures.  I do consider that our fault though because we did not give them a list of photos that we required or wanted.  They told us we could give them a list and Hubert asked me what shots we required during our final meeting, but we opted not to give them a list, so I can't blame them for not reading my mind.  They got in all of the important ones w/ both families, both sets of parents, a sibling shot, etc, so...  They also completely took charge during the bridal party shots.  We didn't do any directing then.

Actually, I just remembered DH did give them a few specific shots that he wanted taken, and they did make sure to fulfill those wishes.  Those weren't staged family shots though.

we ended up getting around 1000 shots...some were just black and white versions of the same pics...but its not like you're constantly looking at doubles...it was so hard to narrow it down to 225 for our album!

We had about 850...you'll be surprised at how much they captured without you or your DH realizing it! My cousin used them, as well, and had somewhere around the same number as everyone else. There were only a couple times during the reception where Hubert asked us to actually pose (during the toast and later on he saw a shot he wanted to capture of DH and me) but they managed to get everything.

These posts first scared me, but now I'm likign the responses - we signed with HK over the last month and am glad to hear that they're not obtrusive but still get the shots!  Good luck, but I"ll guess you got a lot of great pics comign to you.  :)

My husband is a photographer and I can tell you that he, and his other photography friends usually average a minimum of 100 shots per hour of photography.  With black and white conversions, you will likely get more.

And I saw someone say something about a list of family portraits for in between the ceremony and reception.  I can not stress enough how important and helpful this is to a photographer.  It makes things run smoothly and quickly, so if you have the time, please make a list for them.  It will ensure you get every shot you want.

I attended a wedding that they did they photography at and honestly it was why I didn't use them I was nervous for the couple, the group photos seemed very unorganized and they had the people half in and out of the light.  I just had the same issue with my first photographer I hired and ended up switching after my Epics. My sister had over 2500 photos from her photographer (in MD) but they had 2 photographers. Ours said we should have 800-1200 per photographer, so 900 or 1000 is about right.
