Good favor idea or meh?

My thoughts on my favors I want to do...

For adults a wine glass or champagne flute filled with personalize mini hersey bars, hershey kisses and m&m's.

For the kiddies a little black box (Our colors are black and red) with red ribbon filled with the same thing. Or plastic wine glasses half way filled with the candies and a small coloring book and tiny pack of crayons.

I would use a box for the adults as well as the children.  No one wants an odd wine glass or champagne flute so I would save the money and go with boxes.

I have to agree with kmmssg, if i recieved a wine glass or flute at a wedding i wouldn't really know what to do with it. if you wanted to do a glass favor for adults maybe a small vase with a ribbon around the neck, that way it could be used again to put flower buds in it, and when they use it they think of your wedding! a miss-matched glass may get put away on a shelf and never looked at again, but a small vase could have many uses and be looked at every day.

you are correct in thinking a glass favor for children wouldn't be such a good idea, but i don't know how i feel about a coloring book, your wedding sounds elegant, and coloring books aren't so much elegant as practical. maybe the box of chocolates is a better idea.

Yep. Just stick with the candy. I'm not even much of a wine/champagine drinker, but I do have a matching set. Wouldn't really have a use for an oddball.

A box or bag is better than a wine glass.  A wineglass that doesn't match what I already have at home isn't useful to me, so it would just get donated to the Goodwill.  You also have to consider that not everyone is going to take their favors -- you will have about 25% left -- so what are you going to do with all those extra wine glasses?

I would have no idea what to do with one odd wine glass in my cabinet, or even 2 if FI came with. Edible favors are a good idea, just change your delivery. PP all have mentioned great ways to present the favors.

I'll x the wine glass idea. I hadn't thought about what they'd do with it afterward.

I thought to use the coloring books as something to just keep kids busy if they started to get bored or didn't want to dance and mingle. Most of the kids my friends and family have are 3-9 years old, then it jumps to 13-17 year olds.

I would like for te entire thing to be black tie so I was trying to think of a DIY favor that was more elegant and sophisticated than some tulle with candy wrapped in it.

I have found some really cute little boxes with ribbon that I can get to match my colors. I do like the vase idea to.

I've seen people give out personalized Jones' sodas with an engagement picture and a soda in a coordinating color of the wedding, which worked for my friend's rather elegant wedding. My fiance and I brew beer, so we are going to give out about 5 different bottled beers and a cream soda with home-printed labels with engagement pictures and fun names. Find something that is unique to you and your fiance and go with it. I think the favor is an opportunity to a) give back to your guests, and b) to showcase your personality as a couple. Good luck! :)

Not to rain on your parade here, but please check the dram shop laws where you live (always a good idea when hosting alcohol anyway) if you are sending guests out the door and to their cars with intoxicating beverages.

How about adding one of my beautiful custom wine charms to the champagne flutes and wine glasses? Each is a tiny book covered in lovely decorative paper. The first and last pages can be customized with your own message and a photo. They are really unique and would add elegance to your place setting. If you want to check them out, visit www.bookcharmsmaine.com - I can also create a set of four all customized for you so you can see how they'd work for your wedding and with your colors.

Thanks, - you can also email me at sdowns@roadrunner.com.
