Where to get married??

Hey, everyone. I'm brand new to the community(this is my first post). I've been engaged for a while(I guess almost 2 years now) but we'd planned to have the wedding in the fall of next year, so I've just recently gotten serious about planning the wedding.
On top of just having started planning, we also recently moved. We're now living just outside of Atlanta and I'm starting to freak out about the wedding venue and was hoping some people had some ideas they could share!
Firstly, we don't have a very high budget so that's definitely a matter.
Second, we want it outside.
Third, I need a lot of flexibility. Most places have very specific requirements and there are a lot of things I feel I definitely need that can't be made to fit a lot of places limitations, those things being:
  • I want a night wedding, maybe starting at sunset and the reception going late.
  • I neeed candles.
  • My brother in law is a chef, and we've always wanted him to cater our wedding.
  • On top of that, my sister bakes as a hobby and we've also always wanted her to make our cake.
  • We would like an open  bar with a lot of choices.
  • We've considered hiring a cigar roller so it's definitely preferable that we choose a location that allows smoking, but not neccesary.
I understand that most classic wedding venues won't allow for all of my requirements, so I definitely need help. Does anyone know of any pretty places outside that either host wedding generally or could if needed?? I definitely need help with creativity!

Thanks everyone!

Have you considered having a wedding at someone's home? If you know someone that has a nice big and pretty back yard that could not only save you tons of money but you could meet all of your requirements. Also, a lot of georgia's state parks have places you can rent out. While the actual venue is quite cheap - it needs a lot of work to bring it up to the standard of "traditional" wedding venues. Other than that, I can't really think of anywhere. Hope it helps!

Where outside of Atlanta? We're getting married at Belle Terra in Rome and I thought it was pretty reasonable and they allow outside vendors. Tracy Slack is my wedding coordinator and she works closely with Belle Terra.

You could check out the Castle of Paradise in Griffin, GA. It is privately owned and they may be able to work with you, I know you can use whatever vendors you want and they do outdoor weddings.

Good luck and let us know what you decide!

I am also having an outside wedding, and have checked out about ten venues. I am so tired of looking. But definitely check these out:
    -Vines Mansion in Loganville
-Bradford House and Gardens in Buford.
-Villa Serena between Conyers and Snellville.
    -Braselton-Stover House in Braselton
    -Piedmont Park in Downtown Atlanta

    These are MY top five!

Thank you for the suggestion, have you looked into prices at all? I'm especially intrigued by Villa Serena, but it looks like it'd cost a lot.. Any idea? Thanks a lot..

I just looked into Villa Serena myself and got a quote from them, I believe it was $6500, out of my price range but a beautiful place!
