country cover band.

IM thinking about getting a band for the reception, but my fiance and I only listen to country but i know alot of people hate country. Should we get a DJ instead to switch it up a little, so they dont only play country or do a cover band? I really think DJ's are tacky and would love to stay away from them

There are pros and cons to each.  Bands are good because everyone likes live music.  But they are more expensive, and you run the risk that the band doesn't play a song the way you like or can't play a song you want.  Also, I've been to receptions with bands that didn't do a good job of getting people on the dance floor.  DJs are good because they are cheaper, and good ones get all of the guests up and dancing.  They usually act as the Master of Ceremonies, and will help you organize the introductions, cake cutting, bouquet toss, etc.

We are going with a DJ because it's not worth it for us to spend the extra money for live music.  I would suggest looking at both (even calling some) and finding out how they work and how much they charge, etc.
