How long did you wait to tell the planet (by that I mean people outside of your DH/SO & maybe your parents) that you were expecting? Right away? After you had the 1st u/s? End of 1st tri?

It's a personal choice. The first pregnancy, we waited until about 8 weeks (after 1st dr appt) and had to spill it because we were so excited. That one ended in a miscarriage at 10 weeks. Yes, this meant we had to untell everyone, which sucked, but at least our family and friends knew that we were going through a rough time when it happened. We ended up needing their support, so it was all good. The second pregnancy, we told my parents and close friends after 8 weeks again, but waited to tell everyone else at 12.
a friend of ours put up a pregnancy announcement at "about 4 weeks" on facebook. (she called us first, but I didn't think she'd announce it to the world so soon). It was the cutest preg announcement ever, but I still side eye it.
We'd probably tell family and close friends after we saw the heartbeat...Everyone else would be closer to the end of 1st Tri or in the 2nd Tri. I'd hate to have to untell if something went wrong.
Yeah, I think that's too soon. I guess it depends on how many people you'd feel comfortable untelling if it came to that. I wouldn't keep an m/c from my parents, so I'd go ahead and tell them immediately. Anyone else would probably have to wait until we're sure.
If I ever get KU, I'm definitely waiting til the end of the 1st tri to tell anyone (including family). I'd probs tell MOH as soon as I found out, though.
I do *somewhat* understand telling people...but the idea of untelling is heartbreaking.
I told boss early because I nearly puked in her shoes. I told secretarys early because they had to make phone calls to get me taken to the ER. I told immediate family the day I found out...

I will be shouting it from the WW rooftops, but not on FB until there's an U/S & everything looks ok. Maybe even not til the end of 1st tri. So for those of you who are friends with me on FB, when I un-link my blog from my profile, you will know I'm knocked up.
Said cousin is 22 & has no issues that would make her more likely to miscarry that I am aware of. I do hope she has a successful pregnancy because it would suck to have to untell the world.
Only DH knew about my c/p until Saturday when my mom told me about cousin & I had a meltown & rattled it off without thinking. I never wrote about it in my blog either; I'm kind of surprised. Then again, it was VERY quick: BFP one morning, cramps & blood the next night. Not cool.

I told my family because it was the holidays. IL's found out later because they were PITAs during the holidays and either didn't show or left festivities early.
I told work becuase I had morning, noon, and night sickness. I told BFFs too.
Once we got to the 2nd trimester it just stopped being a secret. There was no big announcement.
I also think it would be amusing to just not tell anyone. Have everyone go "Is Lauri pregnant? Has she said anything to you?" This would only work because I'm already overweight, so for a few months people might just think I'm getting fatter.
we waited until 10w the first time and 11 or so the 2nd time. I would have waited the full 12, but we announced on my mom's birthday for Dex and mother's day for Des, so we just went with it.
I definitely side-eye people making giant announcements the minute a pee stick turns pink. Savor it yourself for a minute, people. Absorb the life-changing news yourself, you know?

I did this to some peeps @ work. Hell, a bunch of them finally got around to being all "huh, si she knocked up?' in the last 2 weeks.
It was both awkward and amusing--and the fact that I didn't look very PG early on (IMO--but loosing weight the first 13 weeks or so will do that to you) probably contributed. (early on, I didn't want to have to explain it to people)
I told WW within a few days b/c you guys aren't real. We told parents around 8 weeks, after we saw the heartbeat. I told most of my friends at 12 weeks. We still haven't told "everyone" yet. No FB announcements.
Way late - mentioned it on here right away, but waited until about 9 weeks to tell family (after my first US) - only parents and siblings at that point. We figured if anything happened, we would want their support. We started telling friends around 12-14 weeks. I posted a (covered) belly pic on FB after the 14W mark.. Telling work this week (not FB friends with anyone I work for, and have been working from home a lot. wasn't showing on my last business trip.)
Re: Pregnant peeps: a query
Spill it, Anasara.
Crap...I Mean Crafts
Are you talking about your cousin? I saw your blog post.
I just a friendly gal looking for options.
Remember cousin who got married 5/22? Found out she's pregnant on Saturday & posts on FB Sunday.
Maybe it's just my bitterness of 2 years, 1 checmical pregnancy & 7 failed IUIs talking but I think it's stupid to announce so early.
The second pregnancy, we told my parents and close friends after 8 weeks again, but waited to tell everyone else at 12.

Everyone else was around 15 weeks.

Kidding.
Mostly.

We each got one tell prior to that though.
We told everyone else at 13 weeks. I am superstitious. We don't own a single baby item yet.
