Donating to American cancer society

does anyone know if they could send me cards to put at the tables saying in leui of favors a donation has been made...or something like that? Or even just something we could frame and put by our guest book?
or should I just make something myself?

Before you decide to do this, have you read the sticky at the top of the page on this topic?

I just read it and it does not change my decision on doing this as my family has lost many people to cancer, and many in attendance have been affected by cancer as well so I know that this donation will mean more to them than candy, candles, or a bottle opener. I know that this is a hot topic here (I don't really know why) I guess I was just looking for someone who has done this and what their approach was.

If you want to make a donation, how about you do it in place of something meant for the bride & groom instead of for the guests?  Perhaps instead of carrying a bouquet, you could donate that money and have a note in the program.  I'm sure it will mean a lot more to your guests.

Honestly, I donate to cancer-related organizations myself and can say that I know many a person affected by cancer who would be deeply  offended that you donated to ACS.  I say this because politically and organizationally, there are a lot of people who do not appreciate how they run their organization.  Keep in mind that you might be offending some of your guests by donating to this particular organization in lieu of favors.

At the risk of sounding rude, which was not my intention...in the end I am just looking for someone who has done this not for people's opinion on the subject.

<div>Fair enough. I would just call them and ask them, then, if they have cards. They would also be really easy to make yourself. </div>

remember that any materials you receive from ACS come out of their marketing budget, offsetting your donation.

if you're going this route i'd say just ask for one logo/card to set up by the guest book, or make one yourself.

    good luck-

I have been to one wedding that did this. They still did a small favor- mini boxes of Jordan Almonds that have a tag on them that said "in lieu of a favor, we have made a donation in [Groom's late mother's name] to aid in the fight against breast cancer and honor her memory".
