when to Color/cut hair before wedding?

I am planning on coloring my hair a more rich brown and get a trim but not sure how far in advance I should do it?

I'm getting my color 2 weeks and 5 days out. I got my hair cut 6 weeks out because I personally like the grown out look. My hair is straight and I don't like when the back of my hair is straight across like an even line, if that makes any sense.

  • My stylist said to do it 1 week before. That gives enough time for it to look fresh, but also enough time to go back in if I want to change something.
  • What if you are doing bridal portraits a month beforehand? Do you just have 'old' hair for that?

Then why not get your hair done 1 week before your portraits & then go in for a root touchup 1 week before the wedding?
  • i got my color done 2 weeks before the wedding. I wanted it to look as fresh as possible. I had a bang trim -- but I can't remember when I did that.  Maybe a month before so they had grown out a little.
  • I'm getting my hair colored 8 days prior. I have and am getting highlights and I don't want them to be too "harsh" like they can be a couple days after. I don't want it to look like I JUST got my hair colored.
