New Roommate/sort of rant. Bleh.

So, just got an email from my school today saying my suitemate's and I are getting a new roomie on my side of the suite. Cool and all, especially since I'm not a fan of living alone, and my last roommate was a psycho (a lot of you have seen my post about the way people act at my school), but I'm kinda freaking out that she might be one of the people who likes to talk crap about me and my fiance for no reason. How lovely would THAT be? My last roommate made up a lie that my fiance and I were having sex (against our school's code of conduct...but let's not get into that), spread it all over school, turned us into the school's judicial services, so we had to go through a whole ridiculous "trial" type thing (luckily the school was smart enough to realize it was all a bunch of crap), and then moved out (and no, my fiance was not in the room all the time...he is now that I live alone though, which will obviously have to change). So yeah, I'm quite nervous about this whole situation.

Not to mention she'll be moving in on Friday, and our school claims that roommate changes can only occur between September and November, AND finals are next week. I'm stressed enough already with homework, projects, papers, and studying. I don't need to add cleaning and developing a new relationship on to the pile.

I use parentheses a lot. End rant. Sorry. Roar.

[QUOTE]TAlso, that blows they're moving her in during finals week. Why couldn't she wait until yall come back from Christmas break? I would hate to move during exams or have someone move in during that time.

<div>They move people in the last week so that they can free up that person's room for someone else the next semester. It's how most colleges I know of do it. </div>

  • That sucks about your old roommate. Maybe you'll get lucky with this new one and she'll be awesome! Who knows, she might be escaping a crazy roommate and yall could swap stories.

  • Thanks everyone. I talked to her a little bit over Facebook...haven't met her in person though. She seems nice. So we'll see how it goes.

I understand the freeing up space for next semester, but our college has a policy that no roommate changes can happen before September and after November, so IDK what's up with that.
  • Well of course your college has a policy - but don't ya know that's only for the students? The college can do whatever it wants of course! (sarcasm)

Seriously I think colleges make up policies just to frustrate people.
