    Since your MOH and bridesmaids are the ones hosting this, you'll have to leave it entirely up to them.  If they would like the help of your FMIL with hosting, that's their call, and all you can do is decline the offer of a party.  Maybe talk with your MOH to let her know your concerns and then let her handle it from there.  But if it were me, I would rather have the two showers combine, so you'll have your friends there, and, hopefully, you won't feel as awkward.
