Canada Post-VENT!

When the strike ended we were very happy as this would not affect our wedding invitations being delivered.

We mailed our invites on July 10th and no one has received them yet, not even locally. My shower invites were mailed from a different city and have all been delivered within 2 days.

I called CP today and they told me that all area mail (GTA) is WEEKS behind still and that they should be delivered by NEXT Friday.

My wedding is September 24th so the invites will be delivered less than 8 weeks before the wedding when the wedding is an OOT wedding for most :(

PSA: Mail early!!!

8 weeks is still plenty of time so don't fret quite yet... there's lots of time before September 24.

I have also heard that things are slow within Toronto particularly because of the rotating strikes that were on before the all-out lockout happened.  They'll get there!

Presumably if it's an OOT wedding you have informed people in advance (email or phone or STD) about the date to book it on their calendars?

yikes.. now I'm glad i went with electronic invites

i agree 8 weeks is more than enough time, even for OOT

though my master's degree application is probably stuck in a mailbag somewhere...

I feel your pain... I mailed the few invites I hadn't hand delivered the day after the strike ended. People are only getting them now.
Thank You notes from my showers are only just arriving now too.

If mail volumes are so far down then why can't they get letters out?

People understand because of the strike.   Ask family members to pass the message along to relatives, and mention it to your friends casually when you talk to them.  I'm sure most people know already whether or not they will be invited and have saved the date!

    I totally understand!

My invites were mailed out May 24th MAY 24th!!! We have received 90 RSVPS (out of 130) and some people just didn't receive an invitation! My wedding is August 5th!!  Everyone I know considers me to be very easy going and calm, but when I found out that one of our friends assumed she wasn't invited and then rented a cottage for the week and thus can't attend, I was so upset! Luckily, she wasn't hurt or slighted after we apologized and explained that she wasn't an after thought and how we are so upset that she didn't receive her invite. I mean, she must have thought we were really rude to invite our mutual friends and not her. I get like 2 RSVPS a week in the mail. Since its summer, I've had a hard time getting a hold of ppl otherwise. I just hope we don't have a whole bunch of guests show up that aren't accounted for, since they mailed their RSVP but we didn't get it!

I know, it's a bit of a pain. My invitations were mailed the day after the strike ended and some people got them right away while others took 3 weeks to arrive.  Even getting my RSVPs back.. some of them are dated by the post office as processed the first week of July (5th, 6th, 7th..) and I just received them this week while others arrive fast (one of my GMs mailed his back on Wednesday and I got it Thursday).. there is no consistency right now.
