We only had a few songs that were must plays.  Mostly, we gave them a do NOT play list.  ;)

I'm worried my DJ is going to kill me.  I like so many genres of music that I may just have a must play list that spans the entire evening.

Agreed. When we met with the DJ company, they told us to provide a list of 35-40 songs. I'm going to give him more like 100-150 songs..lol

Yeah, we had a couple songs on the Must play list but we had a HUGE do not play list - we felt that was way more important, because there was a lot more music that we didn't want to hear played!

Just my two cents - I would recommend only giving a few must-play songs to your DJ (unless they specifically asked for an extensive list, in which case I would reconsider your DJ!).  You want them to be able to read the crowd and play what is good for the moment and what people are actually enjoying dancing to.  Focus on the do-not-play list instead and talk to the DJ about the type of music that you and FI like, and if it's a good DJ, they should be able to make it a great party without needing to be told exactly what exactly what to play.  Of course, tell them what you want for your first dance, parent dances, cake-cutting, etc. - but you can probably leave the rest to the professional.
