Favors

Do you have to have favors?

I have been talking to my friends and family about wedding favors and which they remembered and which they forgot at the reception....  A lot of people, even the one's who just got married, couldn't remember the ones they had at their own wedding.  This makes me think.... Do I really have to spend who-knows-how-much money on favors that no one may even remember?  Or can I go with out?  Please help!

You do not need them.  Some people are now taking the money they would spend on favors and spending it on the candy bar or something else like that.

    IMO, no...

Especially no if you treat them to good food and a bar on top of that!

I think favors are pieces of crap that will most likely be thrown out.  Food favors are popular.. but I am not a sugar person.  I am the type that walks right past a candy buffet or desert table without any desire to get it.  Show me a veggie tray- and I will go nuts on it!

I am weird tho.. so if you want a positive favor.. do food.  Otherwise.. you can forget it in its entirety and no one will care.

    No you don't.

Absolutely.  Your wedding will be tanked without some form of bottle opener, corkscrew, box of cholocates, mini bottle of champagne or other do-dad....

Just kidding.  Completely and totally not necessary!!!

Not required but it's a nice thought, there are inexpensive ideas: candy, candles, fortune cookies, etc

I agree with everyone here- totally not necessary.
Spend the money on treating them to great food, a great party and a nice, personalized Thank You card.
There's nothing I hate more than spending $100-$200 on gifts for a couple between the shower and wedding gift and getting some pre-printed Thank You card that just has them signing it.  Worry less about things like favours and make sure your guests are happy and know how much it meant to have them share such a special event with you.  That's what really matters.

favors for each guest can get expensive, Ive decided to get individually wrapped mints for each table instead. Im also doing personalized individual little packs of tissues for people to help themselves to. Ill put some in the ladies room and some around other places. I may also do some personalized cocktail napkins.  I just think that the the above is a better use of money. Ive been to a  weddings where the pretty boxes of favors were all left on the tables, and i felt a little sad because I know that somebody went to a lot of trouble and expense  to make them look so pretty.

I agree with all the pp - what do I need with a shot glass with YOUR initials and wedding date on it?
We are doing small bags with a few M&M's and a few 2010 pennies in it (His initials are MM and my name is Penny) Something cute and silly that will cost next to nothing and won't hurt my feelings if they are left behind or tossed.
