Anyone doing welcome bags?

What types of VA related items are you putting inside? I was thinking peanuts, a postcard, etc but all of my other ideas are getting pricey. Any thoughts?
TIA!

    I put Jody's Popcorn (made in Va Beach) in ours.  I also included things like water, trail mix, gum, dried fruit - things that are easy to take on the go when our guests were out and about in the area.  I also included a list of mine and my husband's fave local places and things to do. Nothing was really "VA-related."  We just wanted our guests to have something thoughtful.

    Welcome bags sounds really cute. I love the idea...Are you guys also doing wedding favors for all guests? That could get pricey.

    We are going to do small bottles of Virginia made wine and then get some candy and nut type snack stuff from Costco and put some little treats in the bags (A hershy bar, some nuts, sme cookies-all in little packs).
    We are also going to put a note with our favirite places to eat around the hotel and an invite and directions to brunch the day after the wedding.

    The hotel we have blocked rooms in doesn't offer a continental breakfast, so our welcome bags are going to include two bottles of orange juice (with our wedding labels), 2 bagels from paner and then a little bag with flavored coffee creamer and some cream cheese (there is a refridgerator in every room).  We looked into Virginia beach stuff, but it got to be too pricey, everything we can primarily buy in bulk and we think our guests will be appreciative of not having to find somewhere to do breakfast the day of the wedding.

    I'm doing Welcome Bags but just basic stuff...tylenol, chapstick, map of the area, tide pen...stuff that could come in handy!

    I am doing bags, and I have started picking items up, We have a " made in VA "
     Store downtown that I plan on looking at, and I also found VA is for lovers items that I want to put in. Other than that, mostly common items like waters, maps, info about the area.

    Hello Ladies,

    I too am considering doing welcome bags. Here is some information I found when I was searching. It also has some specific things that are 'native' to Virginia.

    Cheers!

    Here are some of the standard contents of an Out-of-Town bag:

        * Itinerary outlining all wedding-related activities

        * Contact name and phone number in case anyone has questions (Assign a good friend or family member to be the primary contact, so you don't have to field the calls - but also include the engaged couple's cell numbers for emergencies)

        * Bottles of water & snacks. Wedding guests that are staying at hotels will appreciate not having to pay the high prices at the mini bar.

        * Maps or tourist info for the local area. Visit your local chamber of commerce or visitors bureau; they can provide plenty of handouts.

        * Local coupons (to outlet stops, tourist attrations, etc.)

        * Copy of the local newspaper (hotels usually only provide USAToday)

     Virginia

        * Pre-packaged Virginia Peanuts

        * "Virginia is for Lovers" Bumper Sticker/Post Card

        * Virginia Wine

        * Route 11 Chips

        * Sweet Tea

        * Old Dominion Root Beer

        * Mars Brand candy bars (headquarters is in Va)

        * Virginia apple

        * Sample size Virginia apple butter, jam, honey

        * Mountain Dew (include the 'fun fact' that it was invented in Virginia)
