When to book hair and makeup?

Just wondering how far in advance you booked your hair and makeup team-- I want them onsite if this makes any difference.

As soon as possible!  Keep in mind that most makeup artists and hair stylists are not going to book you in until you leave a deposit.  And you don't want to leave a deposit until you go for a trial to make sure you like them.  So schedule your trials soon and then if you like them, book 'em!  Makeup artists and hair stylists are like any other vendor - the good ones will book up quickly.  Why wait?
  • I booked mine 9 months out and some artist were already unavailable.

  • I booked mine a year in advance.  They are now calling me to find out how many stylists that we will need because other people want to book them for our date.

They should know how many stylists they need based on how many people you told them and how fast they work.  How would you know?
  • As a Professional Make Up Artist in the Bridal Industry I reccomend booking a Make Up Artist as far out as 10 months the great ones always book very fast some of us even for two years out. The last minute booking should be atleast 6 months in advance if you get lucky with a date open. a great make up artist will require signing of a contract deposit down but if you are booking with short notice they might require you put the whole payment down in advance. Make sure you do a trial run with them and bring a couple pictures of what you had in mind that way they have a idea and get the ball rolling. If you decide you like the artists work they should have their contract with them for you to sign and have your big date booked.!!
I hope this helped you good luck
