Sucky day!

My social security card is missing.  I had to drive down to Boston to apply for a new one and get my full birth certificate.  $$$$.  I'm freaking out about both at the moment.  I need my SS Card for interviews and what not and the passport needs to be valid for 6 months for international travel.  It can take 6-8 weeks. I'm going to pay to have it expedited to a 4-6 week delivery and even still its cutting it close.

    Oh man!!!  That really really sucks.  At least you realized it now and not closer to the honeymoon.  Are you changing your last name after the wedding?  Sucks to have to get a new SS card twice in the same year :(

    When do you need your passport by? FH and I both renewed ours recently and got them back within 2 and a half weeks.

    Also it needs to be valid for 6 more months after your travel date, not 6 months before your travel date. If that makes sense. Basically, they don't want it to expire while you're overseas.

    Oh no!  So sorry you lost your SS card.  I've had my purse stolen before so I know what a PIA that is.  I hope it comes faster than they expect it too.  Good luck!

    Mine are missing too and I've been freaking out as well.  I'm really hoping they are just in a pile of papers somewhere, but if they aren't. I'm screwed.

    Ahh that's so scary.  If you think you lost it in a public place and not in your house, I'd keep an eye on your credit report too.  You can get a free one from each othe the 3 credit bureaus once a year.  I check one every 4 months so nothing can ever get too far out of hand.  You can also set up free alerts too temporarily and they will notify you if there is anything out of the ordinary that hits your SS#.

    We're leaving for our honeymoon on 9/17.  The paper work the TA sent us, said that a lot of countries are requiring anyone traveling to have their passport 6 months prior to traveling.  We might be staying in one of these countries depending on the price, prior to boarding the cruise: Ireland, Switzerland or Barcelona.
