Can anyone make any recommendations of a vendor you used that you can recommend.

I was going to order from Things Remembered but hear about black spots appearing on the silver.. Also saw some on Exclusively wedding.com...Will want it engraved, want someting I can keep and display...

Honestly I have both and they were the biggest waste of money. If I hadn't gotten them as a gift I would have skipped them.

My mom just got my fiance and I a super inexpensive cake cutting set that was engraved with our names and wedding date from Oriental Trading. It was very inexpensive so if it doesn't last forever, I really don't care. As far as champagne flutes, I got dollar store flutes and I have a friend who does wire wrapping and she is going to decorate the stem for me. Go the cheaper route.

we are using my inlaws cake cutting set and we bought stemless champagne flutes from pier one and we have a lady on etsy painting mr and mrs on them. I know I won't ever use the flutes or serving set again, so I didn't pay a ton of money....the flutes were like $2 bucks each I think.

My mom still uses her cake cutting set whenever she has guests over and is using her china... Even then, however, I don't know that it's worth spending more than $20 on...

We cut our cake with the venue's knife...

Many years ago, I purchased two pink champagne flutes from Pottery Barn with a gold-leaf design. They were on sale for $10 a piece. They're gorgeous. My husband and I have used them to celebrate every major event since (graduations, engagement, moving in together, etc). They had to be at our reception so I individually wrapped them in paper towels and hand-carried them on the plane to Bermuda for our wedding. Worth it. Totally.

I like CMGr's idea to borrow it if you won't use it after the wedding (it can be your something borrowed). It's kinda like China - if you're getting it just to look at it's a waste of money. But if you will actually use it, then I think it's worth it.

I personally love champagne and have been to friends' houses who used their toasting flutes for special occasions (example, we went to a friend's after we got engaged and they had champagne for us which we drank out of their toasting flutes). Same with the cake server set which is always use for dessert at my parents house every holiday (usually we need multiple during Thanksgiving).

I registered for a set of both because I know I will actually use them both. They actually were the first gifts purcahsed off my registry. The cake cutting set is in the same pattern as the flatware I registered for. I plan to just go to a jeweler to get it engraved. The toasting flutes that I got are crystal and go with my Mom's crystal pattern (which I will one day inherit). I registered for both at BBB, but Macy's also carries them as well as other stores since they're both a common brand.

My mom bought us the Waterford toasting flutes as an engagement gift. At our reception we sat at a table with our parents and grandmas. Hs grandma sat next to me and didn't notice the toasting flutes were only at our seats, not at everyone's, and she started drinking out of my flute. I didn't have the heart to tell her she stole my toasting flute so there is a funny pic of H and I toasting where he has the Waterford and I have a plastic cup. Moral of the story is don't spend a ton of money because grandma might steal it! :

I've found some pretty inexpensive cake cutting sets on <a href="http://www.wrapwithus.com." rel="nofollow">www.wrapwithus.com.</a> With most of the sets you can get: guestbook with pen, champagne flutes and cake cutting set. I think you can get some of them engraved but I'm not sure. I'm getting my set from there. Good luck!

My mom gave us our cake knife (no server) as a shower gift. I know she got it online, but it's sterling and had it engraved. She still uses hers. My folks have been divorced 20+ years, but it still comes out on holidays to cut cakes & pies. I plan to do the same.

As for toasting flutes, years ago my mom had given me a set of 12 pink etched glass wine glasses that were my great-grandmother's (possibly a great-aunt's). They are too old and fragile for everyday use, but we carefully bundled two of them up for the reception.

Waste of time and money to buy, and who will be in charge of getting them and taking them home from your reception?. Use the venue's flutes and cutting set.

I actually bought blingy flutes and cake servers, and I don't regret it. We actually saw one at things remembered that we loved also, but it was over $200.00 and I was NOT willing to pay that kind of money.

I ended up buying it from www.exclusivelyweddings.com and they are absolutely beautiful and their turnaround time was great. I paid less than $80.00 for the flutes and the knife and server.

We have used the server at least 3 times since the wedding in September. (thanksgiving, christmas, and birthdays). So, we don't regret spending the money.

My mom got DH and I a set of monogrammed cake cutter and server. I like them and we use them whenever we have cake. My parents also frequently use their monogrammed set from their wedding for cuttin cake. So if you have the money, go for it and you likely will use them again and they're a fun keepsake/memento.

Both of mine are silver from Things Remembered. No issues with black spots. Not even after not washing them until two weeks after the reception. I got them as gifts, if I wouldn't have been gifted them, I would have used stuff from party center as now they are sitting in boxes to be pulled out on each anniversary.

I registered for mine at BBB. I've used the cake server every time we've had people over for dinner, which has been at least 10 times since the wedding, and we used the flutes on New Years and will probably use them tomorrow for V-day, as well as for our anniversary. Plus I love champagne, so I use one to drink out of pretty regularly.

Yes, they are an added expense, but if you think you will use them, I say get them! There are lots of good ones at BBB, and also you can get personlized ones off of Etsy that are really nice.
