Same-sex wedding invitation wording

My partner and I have decided to tie the knot after 5 years together, but can't figure out how to spell it out on paper that doesn't sound/look like it was stolen from every cheesy wedding ever thrown in the world.
Anyone have a suggestion how to proclaim love and gettin' hitched without causing the eye roll heard 'round the world?

Re: Same-sex wedding invitation wording

  • You can really use any wording an opposite-sex couple could, from the most formal to the most casual.  Ours was:

    2d Bride
    and
    NotFroofy
    are delighted to invite you
to witness and celebrate their wedding
12:00 noon on Tuesday the sixth of October
    two thousand nine
    at
    Temple Shir Tikvah
    34 Vine Street, Winchester, Massachusetts
Reception to follow at 2:00 p.m.
    Legal Sea Foods
    75 Mall Road, Burlington
  • We put

Name & Name invite you to share and celebrate at our wedding
    date time place

Nothing to fancy. We hated everything out there that was so sugary!

    Good luck

  • We are using wording very similar to what was written by 2dBride.
  • We're saying "The families of Bride1 and Bride2 invite you to share in the wedding ceremony of their daughters on This Date at This Place." We got the idea from hetero wedding invites and tweaked it so it sounded more like us, especially since our families are helping out financially with the whole affair.
"Come what may, I will love you until my dying day"
