I just want a cheap cake!!!!

Does anyone know if its possible to get a german chocolate cake with A&M on it or one in the shape of the gig em thumb? I only need it to serve 40-50 people. Everyone I have called is quoting me $200 that seems kinda steep for a cake of that size. I live in corpus and it just seems stuff is cheaper down here. I really want to suprise my groom with something since he is an Aggie. Any suggestions would help!!!

That sounds like the norm just because of the amount of work you are wanting done to it. You are not really paying for the cake you are paying for the labor that went into that cake.

Another suggestion lower your count size maybe by 1/2 for the cake. Alot people will be eating the other cake as well. So that will bring the price down some.

Check the grocery stores in your area to see what rates they give. they are usually a little lower and the cake is still pretty tasty.

That sounds like an average price.

If you want a cheap cake, I suggest going to kroger, randalls, etc and seeing if there's any way they can make a cake like that.

Well 40-50 is half... yeah I called randalls tehy are cheap but are they good? we dont have that down here so I dont know what their cakes are like. I have heard they are good. I guess I could always buy something wtih A&M on it and just set it on the cake

Have you tried Cake Creations? My cake and grooms cake is under 900. His is a two tier and its only 300 something. I'm sure Bobbie could work something with you. I don't know if she does German Chocolate though. I'm sure she would though.

I got my cake from HEB and it looked and tasted amazing. no one knew it was from HEB. best part... i can have wedding cake anytime I want! just stop into heb and buy some!

i bet HEB or Randalls could do a rectangle cake or two tier cake with the A&M logo on top or something. that really doesnt sound too difficult. The thumb itself would probably be more expensive since it's an irregular shape.

We paid $150 for our cake (from the lady who was also doing our wedding cake) to serve about 50 people and it was in the shape of the mustang's running pony.

Well the lady that is doing our wedding cake doesnt do german chocolate and the cake she was going to do was going to be over $300 which with our wedding cake put us way over budget. FI doesnt really care about his cake but I want him to have something. We cant really cut any more out of our wedding cake. I called randalls and they can do something so i will probably go with them. THanks guys for all your suggestions!!!

I just did a cake testing at Alma's Cakes in Houston and they are wonderful and so talented. They do german chocolate and have done some A&M cakes in the past. Here is there website.
