9/29 brides...10 days!!!!

Feeling pretty under control.  My big things are just making sure I pack EVERYTHING for the next two weeks since I and most my wedding crap live in FL and we have to get to the wedding in VA then immediately to the HM.  Also just trying to confirm times and final amounts due with vendors.  Need to get my stones checked in my e-ring and have it cleaned this weekend.  Once I'm in VA I have to steam our table runners and finish up a few centerpiece things I left up there last summer but it is just dripping wax into wine glasses so the votives stick so nothing major.  Pick up the flowers on Tuesday when I land.  Sending a pack list to my bridesmaids on Monday.  Have to put our chair covers on Thursday once my parents get to VA with the loot (Bless them for driving all our stuff up).

So not too bad.  And by Thursday I'll have tons of helping hands as well as few earlier in the week.  Feeling good...getting excited.  Just bits of anxiety here and there about things (like this morning...an hour before my alarm I was worried about FI finishing the music since he hasn't yet).

I am feeling a little under control but my FI won't go and buy the best man & groomsmen gifts. Its so frustrating!! I keep telling him to go but he won't! I am hoping these days  fly by also!
  • I am feeling that things are pretty under control! Just a few minor things left to do like decorate our card birdcage and the wine box for our love letter ceremony, iron chair ties, fill favor bags with Jordan Almonds and fill centerpiece vases. I am a little hurt by FMIL right now though. She lives on the other side of the country and has said that she feels bad about not being able to help out much so I told her that I would have some things for her to do when she gets here (a week before the wedding) and she said great. Well, yesterday my mom posts on FMIL's Facebook that she's so excited to see her and that she hopes FMIL is ready for some Pre-wedding ToDo's as we have saved some for her. FMIL posts back, "Oh that's great, would love to help but save me some time for my other son, his family and my grandkids." Oooookay... I'm not really sure how to take that. Now I am thinking that I should just go ahead and get things done instead of waiting on her. I'm sure I am just overreacting but it hurt my feelings a bit.

That would hurt my feelings too!  Your mom was super nice to reach out to her and a more appropriate response would have been something along the line of "I'm excited too.  I'm going to see my grandkids Sunday morning but Sunday afternoon is all wedding-projects!"   I don't know if your FMIL is flaky at all but if she is, I'd go ahead and do them.  Then, if she does have time for you, if everything is done, just go see a chick flick together or grab lunch.  Also, if she is opinionated, the week before the wedding may not be the time to invite someone into your plans if they may bash them.  It is great to include people but now is not the time to ADD stress.  Bonding time that isn't WR could be better than worrying for approval of your ideas or that projects will get done.

Thanks, that's good advice! I know we will get things done with or without her. Just wanted to try and include her so she wouldn't feel left out and now I can say that I did try. <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-smile.gif" border="0" alt="Smile" title="Smile" />

  • its finally hitting me now. and every ten minutes im like " holy s*it im getting married" .. and telling everyone. ahh! ran into my first issue today. one bridesmaid had to get her  dress altered a little bit .. but shes expecting me to pay for it i guess. the thing is it that when she bought the dress..it fit her great..but she has since lost weight. i dont see why that should be my responsibility .. but i guess it is my wedding. i understand to an extent.. but with my and my fiance pretty much paying for everything ourselves...any extra money spent is ALOT.  am i wrong?? ok. end rant.

<div>You know... I fought this for about a month. But there's a point where it's just on him... they're HIS groosmen. I don't think guys care either way, lol.. but I just had to let go and hope that he'll eventually get them SOMEthing!</div><div>We're not making a big deal of passing the gifts out at the rehearsal dinner anyway. So, again, the guys probably won't even notice if they don't get anything [I will though. (sideeye)!]</div>

This is definitely not your responsibility.  The dress and showing up are the two things required of a BM.  The dress fitting goes with that.  Put it this way, if she went and gained something like 50 pounds (extreme, yes, but to illustrate) do you think she would dare ask you to buy her a new, bigger dress?  She knew she had this dress to fit into.  And while I'll never knock someone getting healthy and losing weight, she had to understand that she was committed to this dress.
