Wedding Woes

I'm not awake

I really need daylight savings to kick in so that it can be daylight when I wake up again.  This waking up when it's dark outside is not working well for me.  I've already had my one cup of coffee, I might have to get a 2nd one.  I don't really like doing more than one b/c it makes me jittery.

We are doing a Bosses Day party.  There are supposed to be 5 pots of chili.  So far, there's 2, mine and one other.  I'm hoping more show up at lunch or something, b/c I made mine spicy and I'm not sure everyone will like that.  Plus, mine isn't a huge amount, so it's not feeding half of our office.  I had figured with 5 pots of chili, I didn't need so much.

I have to work with the very nice co-worker who smells like mothballs today.  I hope today is a good day and it's not too strong.

What's up with everyone else?

Re: I'm not awake

  • Blech.  I am fighting a dang cold and instead of just pretending its not there, I'm trying to hydrate it away.  And push the positive vibes...yes.  LIGHT HEALING. ;)

I have an eye appt at noon and a hair appt after work.  I'm still trying to decide on the hair appt.  I will color and trim...color ideas?  I'm loving the ultra blonde looks coming out right now, but I've had ombre hair since last winter so...it grows out wonderfully.

  • Nice and mundane reconciliation between databases today, trying to get the skinny why a coworker quit her job..may consider cleaning the garage this afternoon or tonight..and have to put on my big girl panties and call for a periodontal consult :P

  • M2 cried for an hour for no reason.  6let is being a butthead (he picked up a doll and started pounding the eyes with a knife.  WTF?)  I'm sick of picking out dinner because nothing sounds good and my taste is off so nothing tastes good.

I'm also really sick and tired of the politcal crap.  Debates and articles don't bother me, but the commercials, the mailers, phone calls, the stupid fb posts.  I don't give two sh!ts if Ryan was washing clean pots and I think the director was a bigger butthead for calling him out on it.  It was an effing photo op of course it was a clean pot.  Do people really think anyone in the pics is doing the real deal?

ETA: To be fair I'm also annoyed at the fb saying Sesame Street has enough $$ coming in from toys that PBS doesn't need to be funded.  I really want to punch her.

And the woman who has used government benefits (welfare, medicaid, SS, unemployment, the whole shebang) now kvetching about people being on welfare.
  • Eh, I can see the director calling them out on this publicly. It's preservation of their donation base. They're a faith based soup kitchen that relies on donations from lefties, righties, centrists, etc. In a culture where religious affiliation and churches are vitriolically politically polarized, they can't afford to lose any donors due to a misconception of political leaning. Especially for a phony photo op

  • If the director was worried about the donor base then it should be a pretty clear policy to keep them out.  Everything I've seen is "the dishes were already clean!"  I was equally miffed at the Cincinnati company who got pissy at the Obama campaign for using their storefront in a campaign.  It was a pretty similar situation and I heard very little except what I heard on the Cinci radio station.

  • Andplusalso, SVDP has a pretty big base in the Catholic church.  I'd venture Ryan has given to them in the past.
  • The Ryan thing annoyed me b/c he was late.  He should've just skipped it.  Sometimes I wonder WTF is going on in the minds of his political managers, b/c someone should've been on the phone apologizing and setting up another time.

I suspect the director was more annoyed that he was late, then still did the photo op, remessing up their kitchen and being an annoyance, without the actual good press that the organization could've gotten from Ryan being there actually feeding the homeless.  Basically, Ryan got his photo, but what did the organization get?  Not as much.

I'm also tired of the advertising and I don't even get the TV ones.  I've been ignoring the CA based phone call that has been calling every night for at least a month.  Leave me alone!

O-face, I can't pull of blonde b/c it washes me out so badly, but if you can, go for it!  Though I do like you as a brunette better.  :)  Maybe a red/brown?

  • Thanks V.  I wish I actually wore my hair down today to show it better.  Ha.  FAIL.

  • V- I've not seen anything about him being late for it.  The article I read said he wasn't even authorized to be there.  So then I'm just pissy that THIS is what gets the attention.  Who care's about the issues when Ryan washed dishes that were already clean???!!!!

A lot of the phone calls are coming in as Private caller which is what my sister is so I answer.

It's the sucky part of being in Ohio

O- Red is hard to maintain, but oh how i  love it!
  • I've done pretty much all colors under the rainbow, save a reeeeallly light blonde.  I've done light brown, dark blonde, red, DARK red, DARK brown.  I look best with lightbrown/dark blonde...I just am tired of "normal" hair.

  • O- I think the reall answer here is FEATHERS!
  • Okay, I just re-read the article, and you're right, 6, it was unscheduled and he didn't have permission.  However, I will tell you that my eyeroll from that was caused by, Of course the Republican alpha white male decided he should go somewhere and so went, without considering if he Could go there or who might be inconvenienced.  There are more important issues though.

I keep pretending that I might or might not watch the debates tonight, but we all know I am.  I really hope Obama does a better job, that the MODERATOR does a better freaking job than these other 2 and that Romney continues to be an a$$hat.  I'm still trying to find a good live fact checking source, so if anyone has suggestions, I'd appreciate it.  Slate seemed to be the most fair, but it was slow.  Daily Kos will take both candidates to task, but for Obama there's always the "he was wrong, BUT..." and that makes me nutty.

That does suck about the private caller.

    Agreed about the red!
