Wedding Woes

I have a rash

Right where my wedding ring sits on my finger.  It's bright red and peeling and itchy.

It's due to a combination of heat/humdidty and constant moisture on my finger.

Because it's been so hot and humid, my fingers are a little more swollen than normal, so my ring rubs on my finger.

I wash my hands all day long and apparently don't dry my ring completely, leaving moisture.

So I'm keeping it off for a few days until it clears up.  Then I have to make a more conscious effort to dry it.

This happened to me as well.

It got better when I started taking off my rings to wash my hands, and then making sure both my hands and the rings are completely dry before I put them back on. Also, as soon as I get home, rings go into a jewelry box.

I'm nervous about taking it off so much.  I'm not exactly graceful and I'm worried about forgetting to put it back on and it getting knocked into the sink or somewhere where it will never be found.  I need to be extra careful.

It is a huge pain to have to take them off so many times in a day, but my skin is pretty sensitive and it gets very uncomfortable.

Quick question - would hydrocortisone cream be better than triple antibiotic ointment?  Or nothing at all, just let air get to it?  I've never really had anything like this before, so I don't know what to use.

I got triple antibiotic treatment from the derm, but I think hydrocortisone would work just as well, combined with letting the air get to it. It should clear up in a day or 2.

You know my gutter brain would prescribe some Monistat and tell you to quit fingering yourself so much.
