The makings of an awkward conversation.....

FI was talking with his friend on the phone yesterday, and towards the end of the conversation, his friend said "I'm gonna start looking into ticket prices (he lives OOT) to come up for the wedding, and just send me the tux info so I can get that done.  Gotta go!"  Before FI could respond, his friend had to go.

Yeah.......FI never asked this guy to be a GM!  This is going to make for one awkward phone call later.  FI's still holding a grudge because his friend (this is actually his best friend) got married last year and didn't invite him (not to be a GM, but not to the wedding AT ALL).  Granted, it was a courthouse wedding, but still.  I'm not saying that's the only reason he didn't ask his friend to be a GM (there are other issues), but I think it's so presumptuous!

  • That sucks! He should have said something sooner. Or called him back.

  • Haha, the guy probably did that because he knew he wasn't a GM and wanted to test your FI. What a jerk. Good luck!

<div>I'm guessing her FI was too taken aback to respond.  This seems like a joke, like he did it on purpose to be a tool.  If that's the case I might just never send the tux info...you aren't really supposed to tell people they aren't in the wedding party but this is super awkward.</div>
  • This! I'm sorry but when people are rude in a presumptuous way I have no issue with serving up the same dish. I would not respond or follow up. If he buys a ticket that's on his own. If he isn't sent any info he has no reason to assume he is invited.

If you would like to take a nicer approach then I would call him and let him know that though his excitement to participate is appreciated we have selected our wedding party...etc.

Haha, I only wish it were a joke...I think he assumes because he asked FI to be a GM for his first engagement (marriage didn't happen) that FI would return the favor once he's getting married.
