Happy Monday Ladies!

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend :)

We finally got our venue booked this weekend so we're pretty happy about that! So with that I am in pretty much full wedding planning mode. Eeek!

We also picked up my matching wedding band to my ring on Saturday! I'm pretty happy thats over and done with now as well (We put a deposit on it at Xmas to a) lock the price in and b) ensure the ring would still be available due to it being a limited design)

Overall a great weekend!

How was yours?  Whatcha working on now wedding wise?

    Congrats on booking the venue! That has to be a huge relief! I am booking my photographer a week from today, I can't wait for that meeting and need to get all my questions together. I also booked my photobooth yesterday!

    Congrats on getting the venue booked!! Now you'll really be able to get going with everything else.

    We also had a wedding band weekend...I think we've got them pretty much picked out, but they didn't have the exact one I wanted in the store, so the jeweler is having the designer send one out so I can try it on.

    So, we've got that going on right now, and I'm working on hotel room blocks/shuttle service, finding a DJ, and narrowing down DIY centerpiece ideas, so I can do a test run of whatever I decide on. Things are starting to book up fast around here for next June, so I'm trying to get all of the vendor stuff worked out by the end of March.

    I also had one of those "Whoa, this is real, I'm actually getting married" moments earlier today. Anyone else get those?

    It is a HUGE relief to be honest. There was another couple entertaining our date at the venue so we finally had to get our butt in gear and go in and put down our deposit haha. We were supposed to book the church as well afterwards but unfortunately the Reverends husband suddenly passed away so it has to be postponed. I feel sooo bad for her and I haven't even met her yet :( I hope she takes her time!!

    Would you mind sharing examples of questions to ask the photogs? I don't even know where to start with that and that is what I plan on working on this week.

    I really wanted a photobooth and the FI didnt. I pushed and pushed for one, sourced pricing and whatnot and presented it to him and he wasnt all that impressed. So then I came up with a brilliant idea instead. (Our venue is a old converted movie theatre with some movie props still there) I got him to agree to a red carpet with a backdrop he can design (something classy) and the little velvet ropes and have our photog take photos (still debating about having it printed on site or send a copy to each person with their TY card) He agreed to that immediately so I'm thrilled! I think it'll be a fun way to enter the venue and give people something to do.

    Can't wait to hear when you've got your band! Have you looked at his? FI hasnt on this trip but he did previously. He is picky LOL I'm sure we'll figure his out down the line.

    Are you finding hotels are working with you to book in advance? How many rooms are they allowing you to block off? If they aren't giving you issues, I'm going to call up the hotel next the venue and see when I can book our rooms as well.
    Well I guess we've booked our DJ as well lol We went with the DJ the venue recommended (as we get to use their in house light and sound system if we booked them) so I am really hoping they are good. They will contact us for the meet and greet. I'm a little nervous about it to be honest because silly me didnt do any research into this company.. Hopefully all is well lol

    DIY Centerpieces!! I love to hear that. I love DIY lol Definitely share ideas on here. I havent even thought of centerpieces yet to be honest lol

    And yup!! I got that moment when I was signing for the venue. I was all like omg this is for reals LOL (And then yesterday I realized we've been engaged for 8 months approx and had a little freak out moment because it seemed like just the other day it was still just over 2 years to go!!! yikes!!)

    Congrats on the venue!   Must be a relief!
    Nothing much going on here, I did a lot already so the only progress so far is we have tentatively selected a date to have our engagement session, have to confirm it with school and such but that's about it.

    @ Sss, so far, hotels have been very willing to quote rates. I think out of the four or five I talked to, only one of them hadn't finalized their rate sheets for 2013. All of the hotels I talked to said that they'd set aside 10 rooms to start with as soon as I gave them the green light, and then between the time we reserved the rooms and the wedding, they'd stay in touch to revise that number as needed.

    I've seen the wedding band he wants. We've looked a couple times, and this past weekend, I think he settled on something. Like your guy, mine was also surprisingly picky about the ring...it was like trying on rings with Goldilocks...one ring was too thick, one had weird edges (whatever that means), etc.

    I hope everything works out with the DJ. I'm sure it will though!!

    And I'm going to try and do one mock centerpiece this weekend...if it turns out okay, I'll post pics. My mom is like Martha Stewart gone rogue, and I think she passed the trait down to me, hahaha. And I love your photobooth idea...that's going to be so fun for your guests!!

    Exciting!!! Congrats on making it official :)

    We have all of our big stuff booked for the wedding: venue, DJ, photographer/videographer, officiant, and caterer (because things get booked sometimes 2 years in advance up here).   Now I feel like there's nothing much left to do until I get into a bit better shape and start my dress hunt :)    FI got his wedding band last week also because of the sweet JVL sale that was on!  All exciting stuff.

    Oh and about hotel rooms... we talked to a hotel about blocking off rooms at the open house for our venue.  They gave us a little information package, but I think I am going to wait until May and June and block them off just before we send out our save the dates.   They said they would book off 30 rooms and release them 3 weeks before the wedding.  If 20 people book, we get a free room for ourselves *crossing fingers* haha

    We're D-I-Ying our centrepieces as well!  I've bought these wooden planter boxes from save-on-crafts.com and we'll fill them with cat grass and a few flowers (not many because I am allergic to pollen); and we're going to use a burning tool to put our initials on the side on a heart.   I'm nervous, but hopefully it all works out! haha
