Affordable DJ in Columbus?

My 5K wedding has turned into a 7K wedding and I'm trying to find an affordable DJ, around 100-300 for my reception... I'm not finding any. Any recommendations? Is a DJ worth it? Or is a sound system with a very well selected playlist good enough? I didn't want to go with a DJ at first, but now I'm thinking I should. Thoughts?

Re: Affordable DJ in Columbus?

  • I'd defnitely go for a DJ! Less stress than worrying about an iPod and all that kinda stuff.

We are using Byron with Buckeye Entertainment. We are paying $475 for 5 hours, and he is also doing our ceremony.

I know it's a bit out of what you want to spend, but he is totally worth it. Great guy and the most affordable DJ I have ever seen.
  • Unfortunately, I don't think you are going to find a good DJ for that price.
We have a 5k budget and have actually trimmed it down to about 3.5k, so I have the budget things figured out.

We are also working with Byron from Buckeye Entertainment. We debated a DJ for a while, and decided to do it. The DIY music can get really expensive... You buy a ton of music for the night and then probably never listen to it again. It will get close to being the same amount of money.

    GL! HTH.
If you need help trimming your budget, let me know and I can try to help.

  • I was interested in Buckeye Entertainment and emailed him on Jan 10th to see if he was available for June 2nd. Never got a response though. I've considered that since you get the all-included package for that flat price. I saw their display at a bridal show and everything looked very professional. I just wish they would get back to me :/
  • FYI I am having Young Music Entertainment DJ my wedding. Terry is super experienced, having been a club DJ for 15 years before starting this company and striking out on his own. They are just getting off the ground, and so their rates can not be beat! (As posted on their website, events start at $200 plus travel.) Terry has done several weddings for friends over the years, so he is experienced at handling weddings as well. I looked at some of the others, and could not find anyone that would work with my tiny budget, so he saved me from having to do an iPod reception! (Which was, in fact, what we originally planned after hearing how expensive most DJ's are around here!)

  • He finally did get back to me and it looks like the display I saw was "Buckeye Sounds Entertainment." So. That must have been the confusion. Sadly he is booked for my date.
  • awww bummer :-(

My fiance and I actually run a very affordable DJ business. We offer 5 hours of service for $250. We provide lights and visuals as well, and by June we should also have microphones if you need or want them for anything (toasts, etc.) You are having your wedding June 2nd, correct? What time of day were you looking at?

Actually it looks like Sandy recommended us too =] Thanks Sandy!

Edit: Whoops...not sure if I was really supposed to post that since I guess it's advertisement. Sorry :[
