Suggestions for welcome bags

Hey Ladies! Starting to look at putting together welcome bags for my OOT guests wanted to see if there were any MUSTS that needed to be in there. I'm thinking about putting in a local map, sunblock, bottle of water. That kind of stuff.

Any suggestions would be welcomed!

Contact the Convention and Visitor's Bureau for 2012 visitor guides.  You could put something from back home and something new orleans.  New Orleans food items to include would be a bag of Zapps chips, pralines, Hubig's pie....

I'm interested to see what else people put in theirs because I'm starting to think about ours too!

I bought Zapps chips and indivudual packets of Advil from Sam's, as well as Kentwood Water (Abita Springs Water could be an option) to include since it's "local".

I also included maps and brochures from the NOCVB.

Oriental Trading had cute Mardi Gras packaged butter mints I also threw in there.

    I'm thinking of using:
community coffee, small one pot package
    pralines
    louisiana hot sauce
    Zapps chips
    camiellia red beans
    mardi gras beads
map from convention center, as someone else suggested, they are free

Most of my guests are OOT, so i can get away with all New Orleans type items.

I am putting the NO Visitor's Guide, a custom wedding map from etsy, welcome letter packet with weekend itinerary and things to do (custom from a fellow Knottie if you want her contact info), Zapps (go to their website to buy the small bags in bulk), pralines (possibly with custom sticker), packets of Tony Chachere seasoning, packets of Advil, water, and possibly a NO postcard asking our guests to send us the "marriage advice" (got that great idea from another bride on here too).  I've also got mini bottles of Crystal hot sauce on my list if I can squeeze those in there too.

ohhhh  i love all these ideas! what are the custom welcome letter packets? and great idea about going to the zapps site.

Question about contacting the NO tourism company, do you TELL them it's for your wedding's welcome baskets? or do you need to be sneaky about it? <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-tongue-out.gif" border="0" alt="Tongue Out" title="Tongue Out" />

When I priced out the potato chips, I think they were the cheapest from Sam's or Wal-Mart.  It was maybe $.25-35 a bag.

I third Lagniappe For Your Event!! She did such a wonderful job and it was one less thing I didn't have to worry about doing! Her prices are very reasonable; it really wouldn't have cost much less for me to do it myself.

i bought a giant bottle of pain reliever and the tiny plastic ziploc bags, then portioned out two per bag and made a little square that said "Aleve - Mayer/Efferson Wedding Special Edition" to go inside the bags also. Guests told me they were so grateful, lol!!!
