ga officiant laws

Hi ladies,
I am considering asking a family member or friend to get ordained to marry us, and I am wondering if anyone is doing the same?  I am curious about the laws in Georgia and if this is legal and if there are special requirements.  I've tried looking things up online but I can not get a clear answer online.  (Oh, and we live in and we are getting married in Fulton county). Thanks in advance for any help! :-)

You could try asking the Probate Court since they are the one that handles marriage licenses.  I believe to be an officiant it's something like paying a fee, answering some questions and filling out some paperwork.

Apparently, an "ordinary's clerk" is the person in charge of officiants, etc. in a court.

I haven't looked in to it but we are hoping that my aunt's son in law will get ordained. He was going to for one of his cousins thats getting married but then they found someone.. I met with a minister this past weekend & their fee was $350, I'm hoping that something else will work out though because I can think of so many other areas to spend that $. Sorry I can't really help with any of your questions though.

Yeah - our minister is $400.  He cut us a deal, and it includes a calligraphied wedding certificate :)
