Venues

I had no idea there were so many places to get married! How do you narrow them down, or do you visit every place you are interested in?  We just got engaged, so the planning processis brand new to me.

Id recomend starting with your budget & what you plan to spend on your reception. Also narrow down what are you and FI's must haves (beach, waterfront, OOT accommodations, specific date, area of the cape etc.) Once you figure out exactly what you want, then it will be much easier to pick one.

I agree with PP, but also, start your guest list. If you have 200 people you HAVE to invite, that will narrow it down considerably. Or, if you only want 75 people there, a big ballroom would be silly. Once you have a pretty good idea of your guest list and budget, that will narrow things down a lot and then prioritize like PP said.

For us, we started with the fact that FI really wanted it on a golf course, so we looked at locations on golf courses in our budget that fit at least 150 people.

Good luck! Once you pick the venue, a ton of other things will just call into place.

Yes I agree. you need to know what your budget is in addition to that  Most vendors will want an idea of your head count, the time your ceremony starts, Where your cermemony is (on site or seperate location) how big your wedding party is. Where your pictures will be. especially when it comes down to scheduling the day...for your caterer, DJ, venue etc.
