D.I. WHY???? LOL

Are there any "do it yourselfers" on here? If so, what will you be D.I.Y.ing for your big day?

So far we will be making the favors: chocolate covered espresso bean brownies and we will be giving away cd's that we've compiled of our favorite love songs, we will also be making our own table name signs and place cards thanks to my trusty CRICUT machine! IT IS A LIFESAVERWink

    I love the cd idea, that is an awsome favor! Making your own placecards is a nice touch too! I still cant get over the cd, great idea!
    I originally planned not to do anything myself! I didnt want to do anything, planning was enough for me. Then I desided since my theme is fall, I wanted a tree to hang my placecards on. The placecards will be leaves. A friend of ours is making the tree, Ill do the placecards. Ill buy the leaves and print on the computer peoples names. OK one project I was done with that! THEN, my SIL's looked at what centerpieces will cost and desides we would make them. So now I am making my own centerpieces, with the help of my SIL and MIL and my mom. They are all very crafty so it will be ok, and their are a lot of us, so it will go quick. And they offered to help. I think I am doing candles, different sizes in the hurricane vases, with leaves and berries around them. The venue will set it up for me, so we dont have to worry that day about it. Ill just give them a pic of what it should look like and pack each in its own seperate box. Next, I was at my moms last night on etsy looking for card boxes. I dont want to do the bird cage. It doesnt go with my theme and everyone does it. So i found this box that was perfect. I showed it to my mom, she went downstairs and came back with three boxes, that were exactly what the boxes in the pic were. I just need to put the ribbon and leaves in the box. I fiquired ok save 100 dollars. SO now I am making a card box too. Thats easy though, since the boxes were exactly what they one on etsy looked like. I went from doing nothing myself to 3 big projects, I keep telling myself Im saving money and can use that money for reception upgrades or something else I want. Besides it will be fun to do all of these projects as a family.

    Ughhhh no I don't plan on DIYing anything actually :X   I'll be planning from out of state AND be working as an associate attorney the year before planning... no thanks. Maybe if something comes up that would be easy to do, but otherwise I think the stress will be too much for me. I'm all about making it as easy as possible for me and my mom (she isn't a big DIYer either). 

    I definitely feel like I'm in the minority though! DIY is huge on TK haha. As it gets closer there might be things that I feel comfortable taking on, but I don't want to plan on anything and then get overwhelmed because we don't have time to do it. The CD idea is really cute!! I think the venue we're going with has centerpieces included (yaaaaay) and they'd set it all up and light the candles so hopefully I like the look of that. :)

We were actually going the wishing tree route (since coffee beans grown on trees <and our wedding is coffee themed...The Perfect Blend>, we would have a bundle of branches and have cut outs of coffee beans so that the guests can write their well wishes to us and then they can hang them on the tree). I love your center piece idea, that is going to look great (I can already picture them!).     I totally agreed with you. I didnt want to do any DIY. But my family does, so idk if it will be me doing it or them. We looked at venues with centerpieces included. I was so picky though, I did want them. The venue we picked doesnt include them. But that is ok, bc I think it will be more fun to get my own. I think it is great though when they are included. My sil has hers included. I have a lot of sil's so it isnt always the same one when I talk about them. I have talked to florists about doing mine, so its still up in the air. We also dont have as much going on as you do. I work part time, my MIL doesnt work, my sils work part time, so we have the time to do it.

    The tree is great a friend of mine is making mine. I am not that creative. Our them is Fall In Love. How creative I know. A perfect blend is awsome! I love your ideas we need to share more of them! I fiquired I would have people write well wishes on the tree after they get there place cards. Etsy has cute leaves you can either see what they did and recreate or buy from them. I have to either buy or make a card box, its Jersey so you basically only get cards. I wouldnt have done it had my mom not had the exact boxes I saw in etsy. That is so easy, I'm not worried at all. I love doing things with my family. We have so much fun. We are planning a babyshower now for my SIL and we are having so much. I am looking forward to the lollypop making and favor making and doing the games. I cant wait! After the baby shower its bridal shower for my other SIL and them my wedding time! This year will go quick! I want to come to your wedding for the coffee things, I LOVE coffee!

    So come! I would love to see everyones wedding and for everyone to see mine! It will work so well for us, bc the leaves will be in all the fall colors it peak here for the leaves on the trees and looks so nice! I just hope it doesnt snow! When I looked at venues last year the weekend before my wedding will be it was snowing!

    I don't WANT to do DIY, but we can't afford anything else. My friends mom is doing the flowers, same friends MIL is an excellent baker and is doing our cake she made the cake for my sons baby shower and it was amazing so I have no desire to use anyone else, ever.im making the bridesmaid dresses. We all agreed on infinity dresses and they are so easy to make, it won't take more than a day. A friend of the family and her son are cooking for us. I think the only thing being professionally done is my hair and makeup and a photobooth. One of my old co workers is a coordinator, I have 20 people who are photographers. And I think I'm going to enlist my 10 cousins and 4 siblings to help set up the decorations and tables while I'm getting ready. It's an outsoor venue and unless you get catering done through them, your on your own for just about everything
