Outdoor Ceremony location ideas??

I live in the metro detroit area and i'm having a bit of trouble finding a good location for a outdoor wedding. I wouldnt mind having it in a park, but i havent found anything that is nice enough or big enough around my area.  If the outdoor concept doesnt work, i wouldnt even mind a nice chapel that can hold up to 150 people. Any suggestions.. Thank you!!

    you could try a hotel. places like the Novi Sharaton have an outdoor area then you can host your reception inside.

    Perhaps give us a better idea of what area you're in. Metro detroit is pretty wide range.

    Plus, what kind of theme/level of fanciness are you looking at?  When you say "outdoor wedding," do you mean "rustic casual style," or "elegant formal gardens?"  We're having a very rustic, fun wedding at Kensington Metropark.  I've also seen some very elegant outdoor wedding photos from Meadowbrook Hall.

    KLreese: im having my reception in caton, but i live in allen park. So honestly i would love to have the wedding anywhere between Kensington-trenton.  The problem i have came across is that i have to book the reception at their location along with the ceremony.

    Matuofm: simple./casual.. i am willing to buy/decorate as much as needed. I just am lost on where to look first.:-)

    Hmmm...I didn't realize that you weren't going to do both ceremony and reception at the same place.  In that case...I think I've heard about a park in Plymouth called Kellogg Park that's really pretty and is popular for weddings.  And the Matthei Botanical Gardens (either Ypsi or Ann Arbor, I can never remember which) has several really pretty areas where you can hold a wedding.  I'm pretty sure that you're not required to do the reception there.

    Thank you!.. Yeah i got a  great deal on the hall, so the ceremony is causing the problem.:-)  I heard great things about the botanical gardens, so its going to be on my small list.

    I am having my ceremony at the 1800's chapel at the Troy Historical Museum. It's beautiful, you can use the entire grounds for pictures, and they close off the chapel for others not involved with the wedding.

    We used The Whitney Restaurant Garden for our ceremony and reception. It turned out beautifully.

    There's a place near Rochester at Stoney Creek Metro Park, google it.  It's on a lake.  They have a gazebo for outdoor ceremonies and a large tent that holds up to 300 if you have you're reception there.  The ceremony/reception fees are very reasonable and there is a local caterer, Kosch Catering, who handles all of the events and does a great job.
