April wedding?

Hi everyone! I am new to TheKnot...just got engaged about 1 week ago (YAYYY!), and we are trying to set up a date. I am curious to know what you all think about an outdoor early April wedding in Orlando. We were thinking sometime in May, but after going to an outdoor baby shower yesterday, I felt like I was melting from the heat!

Thanks ladies!

I just got married last weekend. It was hot as heck. I wish that we would of gotten married a little sooner in the year so I think April is good.

    Congratulations and welcome!

I got married April 2 (same place at Erica) and it was warm. Like, we were getting sweaty at the rehearsal. But the day-of wasn't too bad, just very bright. Weather in FL is a crapshoot no matter what, but for an outdoor wedding I'd say late March/early April or November would be your best bets.

Welcome! I got married outside at the end of March and the weather was gorgeous during the day. After dark it got a bit cold, but we were also 11 stories up, so it was probably a little chillier up there than it would be on a lower level.

But I agree, that the weather in Florida is pretty unpredictable. I have had pool parties on Christmas or gone to the beach on Christmas Eve before, so really, any time of the year it's kind of hard to tell what you'll get. I think it's pretty safe to say that like May or later will typiclaly be pretty hot.

    Congrats and welcome!

I'm getting married outdoors...in July! *sigh* i dont know what i was thinking. We are getting married around 6-6:30 pm so hopefully that makes a difference. Regardless of it, we will be hot.

I originally planned late May (yesterday May 22nd to be exact) but because of family, we had to change the date.

Anyway...April is always nice. March...is kind of unpredictable, especially with the weather in Florida.

    Happy Planning!

I'm a crazy outdoor July Bride too. Everytime I step outside, I wonder what the heck I was thinking... oh well, at least the ceremony should not be very long.

We're planning an early March wedding & I kind of wish we had planned for April. Surprisingly it's one of the driest months in Florida (Contrary to the "april showers bring may flowers thing) & the weather is usually very pretty. I think it's a good idea to shoot for early April because it can get very hot towards the end of the month. Maybe the first weekend? Good luck!!

Wow, I'm the oddball....ours is Feb. 27th :) This past year it was a bit chilly but I would be very happy with 70-72 degree weather, which is usually the norm for late Feb. early March. Our 15 minute ceremony is the only thing that will be outside...the rest of the reception is inside :)

I am getting married April 8 with an outdoor ceremony starting about 6pm. The ceremony will probably be pretty short, so I'm not too worried about hot, just a little nervous about rain. We can add on a guaranteed indoor ceremony site for $200, but I've always wanted to get married outdoors.

Just thought of something else. Assuming you are planning on getting married next year, you might want to be a little flexible on your date until you have a venue booked. According to a caterer friend of mine, wedding season in Orlando is April/May and September/October instead of June/July. I know there are several April 2011 brides who already have several vendors booked and it might limit your choices if you are set on one date. Good luck!

If you're set on an outdoor wedding, I would make sure to avoid hurricane season. I believe it runs from June through November.

We're going to get married in April, but it will be an evening wedding.
