Did/will you change dresses at your reception?

My dad apparently thinks I need to change at some point in the reception "because most people change and don't wear their dress the whole time." I'll be in my dress for about 9 hours by the time the reception ends around 10 - we're starting pics at 1. I figured I'd just have an outfit to change into to help clean up the reception, but hadn't planned on changing before then.

What did you do, or what are you planning to do?

No changing here!  I figure that you only get to wear it once, so why not enjoy it all day?  I was actually pretty comfortable in my dress though too.  Perhaps if it were another style, I would have felt differently.

I didn't even change while we were picking things up at the end.  I wore my dress to the hotel.  We were in my car (a Chevy Cobalt), which is pretty small...so it was quite a site to see me in the passenger seat with my poofy dress and crinoline all bunched in with me. :)

No way!! You spend all this money on a dress that you're only going to wear once... why on earth would you change for the reception? Besides, the dresses are usually really comfortable; it's the shoes that you have to worry about. I plan on going even to the hotel in my dress. I want everyone to know that I'm a bride.

I put the dress on at the church and didn't take it off until we got back to the honeymoon suite.  So I wore it for 11-12 hours.  I was tidying up, trying to organize the presents, card box, etc while still in the dress.  My cousin promptly yelled at me, "It's your wedding! Sit down and let me clean up!"

I did change my shoes 3 hours into the reception.  I put on my Monty Python and the Holy Grail Evil Bunny slippers :D

Thanks guys. I'm pretty sure I'm just going to be staying in my dress. My shoes are really a non-issue as I plan to wear some wedge flip flop things (Hey, FI is wearing tennis shoes so I get comfy shoes too!) and I have a pair of flats for just in case, so looks like I'll just stay glammed up the whole night :-)

I wish!  Only our parents were left by that point and none of them had a camera with them.

Lol, i giggling at the "something else" option.  "I took off my dress and decided to go naked at the reception!!" hehehe

I plan on wearing my dress the whole time.  My mother is also trying to convince me to change dresses, but I don;t have any desire to.

lol I have no idea what I had in mind for something else, other than a friend of mine says she wants her wedding dress to have a wrap skirt of sorts that she can unwrap and have a shorter skirt underneath for the reception. So I guess that could be "something else" :-)

I'm definitely staying in my dress. I even sat in it for almost an hour at the bridal shop while my bridesmaids were trying on dresses. I was just relaxing, reading a magazine. LOL  I had to test it out to make sure I would be comfortable! My dress is super poofy from my hips down so it was a sight to see. haha

I LOVE my dress but I might buy a short dress to wear at the reception. Since my wedding dress was free I don't have to justify it by saying I spent thousands on a dress for one day. lol. (No offense ladies!) I just think it would be fun to wear something a little different, maybe a little more comfortable so I can dance easier. And I want people to see my shoes! haha.

My friends and I are all line and country ballroom dancers, so I bought a short dress to wear later in the reception.... after all of the formalities and traditions are observed.  You can't west coast swing in a huge gown with a 12 foot train, no matter how good your bustle is!  LOL

My short dress was actually a DB bridesmaid dress that I was able to get in silver.  Almost the same dress in a white "bridal" style was twice as much.
