3 or 4 smaller cakes

I'm not sure why, but I really like the idea of 3 or 4 separate cakes (not sheet cakes) on different cake stands rather than one large cake. I've seen several pictures of them, so I know that this happens, just wondering if anyone here has done it. I would assume it would be about the same price as a regular tiered cake, but maybe not.

  • This is what we're doing and it is way cheaper at the bakery we're using. Like way way way cheaper. Less than half the price even!

  • I haven't done it as in purchased-from-a-bakery, but I did it for a wedding cake I baked for a girl at our church.  It can be a beautiful look, and I imagine it could really save money, because you're ordering individual  cakes rather than something tiered ... and you can get prices independent of the "w" word.
  • You can have different flavored tiers if you'd like.  My cousin had two separate cakes at her wedding.  One was carrot cake, the other chocolate I think.

</div><div>Yes, this. We didn't order them for a "wedding" but a party. And they are not fancy decorated, but the bakery we're using does white chocolate shavings around the sides of each cake which is gorgeous and yummy! I am doing a different cake topper for each, just something small, but something that is just "us". One will be a Dallas Cowboys one since fi is a fan, one is zombies since we love zombie movies, one is lovebirds since we have 11 pet birds, etc. They're all small and tastefull, but add somethign fun.</div><div>
