Calindi

Because you asked so nicely. ;)

This is about a month ago.  Sorry it's a bathroom pic and litle blurry.

Here is Alexis Renee (on 29 Aug).  She has Mommy's belly.  LOL

And here are pics of her nursery.  I found this armoire in an antique store in VA about 10 years ago.  It was black and I had once used it for my entertainment center.  It's just been sitting in our garage for years, but when I found out we were having a girl, I refinished it and decided to use it for her room.

Of course I had to get her some books about her culture and about what Mommy and Daddy do in the Army.  :)  My SIL jokes and says the Filipino children's books are also for me.  LOL

I LOVE IT!  I'm in awe of your refinishing ability.  It looks gorgeous!  And I totally know the Pinterest inspiration that may have triggered that nursery look - I pinned it on my "Baby Fever" board, and love it sooo much!

You're so cute with your pregnant belly - yay!  No wonder you're not in the field - I imagine your back gets sore even from standing for awhile now, huh?

I love the name Alexis Renee - I think I told you that before, but it's really sweet.  Alexis is one of the names we like for a girl, though we have had a few guys named "Alex" that we both dislike, so that might cut it for us.  But it's an absolutely beautiful name!  And oh my goodness, she looks so cute - such a perfect little person!  I'm in awe, truly.

How're you feeling?  Any morning sickness still?  When's your due date, and if i may be so bold, what's your birth plan?

I, too, LOVE the name Alexis... It's "on the table" for us as well, but because I like to shorten it to lexi

Nosey here too! I love the nursery.  I like that she can grow with the room and it will fit her at all ages.
  • edited December 2011
Thanks so much ladies!  She's getting the room I would have if I were single, becasue I won't make my husband sleep in a room with a chandelier! ;)  My parents are already calling her Lexi, so it's starting to grow on me.

Believe it or not, I've never been on Pinterest.  I just had this vision in my head of what I wanted her room to look like.  :)  I got the Poms and wall lettering on Etsy.  I'm feeling ok.  No sickness, just really bad heartburn- constantly.  :/  I'm due on 12 Jan.  And I don't really have a birth plan.  LOL  I just know that I'm def getting the epidural.

The epidural is a major part of a birth plan!  Laughing  FI wants me, when we're at that point, to do some midwifery all natural thing in a bathtub or something.  He watched some creepy documentary on it all and now wants nothing to do with hospitals or epidurals or whatnot.  I told him when he can go through labor then he can decide how he wants to deal with it!

You'd loooove Pinterest, though I doubt you will have much time for it after the baby is born.  If you want an invite, PM me your email address (it's an 'invite only' cool kids club like that).

LMAO This exactly!  My husband is totally on-board with whatever I want to do.  We had to watch these videos of natural births in one of our birthing classes and he's literally crying because he's laughing so hard.  He's so immature when it comes to stuff like that.  He also can't stand the sight of blood at all, so I know he's going to be up at my head the whole time.  Totatlly not going to be one of those super involved Dads.  I think he was even a little creeped out when I said that I wanted immediate skin to skin contact with her after she's born.  He was like, "Before she gets cleaned off?"  LOL

Ha!  I'd want skin-to-skin contact instantly, too.  So see, you DO have a birth plan!  Hospital, epidural, husband by your head behind a nice little screen so he can't pass out from the blood, and then immediate skin to skin contact!

FI is easily grossed out, but I think body stuff isn't as gross to him.  It's more bugs that he freaks about, so I'm hoping he'll be good.  I do think he'll have wayyyyy too many opinions, and I'm open minded, but I'm ultimately going to say if I'm getting that epidural or not.  And honestly, I kinda want to be knocked out and have a c-section.  And I know that might make me a bad person, but whatever.

Your nursery and belly are gorgeous! :)

We don't have immediate plans to concieve but H has already told me he is going no wear near my lower half. LoL I can't blame him, I wouldn't want to either. Funny thing for me is, being a parent doesn't freak me out but the pregnancy and labor scare me... which is totally backwards but whatevs.

Shan and Irish- i have laid that law down too.  Head only.  I think he would never be able to get that out if his mind.  HA!!! Oh yeah I am totally on board with the drugs.  No natural thing for me.  C- I love you comment to your FI about when he gives birth.  I think men some times just don't have a clue.  HA

Team-I love your baby belly & your nursery!! Even though when it comes to babies I don't have the fever, I love a cute pregnant belly!!  Although, whenever I do get pregnant, there will be NO touching of the belly by unauthorized personnel.

Cal, H watched that same doc and is now finally on my side about water birth (the side of having one). I was literally shocked that he had such strong opinions without thinking about what I would want. I was going to ignore him anyhow, so it's good he's now on my side.

I'm really not opposed to water birth, and I like the concept.  I'm just super afraid of pain!  I have a high pain tolerance, but yeah... yikes.  Labor doesn't look fun.

I always make it a point to thank someone when they ask first.  If it's a woman I know, I don't have a problem with it.  Luckily I haven't had any strangers try to touch me.  What I do have a HUGE problem with is guys at work.  (I'm only one of 5 females in the battatlion).  I get so mad and give them my little speech.  I know they don't mean any harm, but they still need to know that it's NOT OK! LOL

I went on a rant in another post about how I hate when ANYONE touches my stomach, or my feet (I'm not sure why), even people I know.  I'm not sure how I'll handle that aspect of being preggers!
