Hello lovely ladies,
I was wondering if any of you got a spray tan/airbrush tan before the big day. did it look good? where did you get it done? did it rub off all over your dress? Thanks

Re: Spray Tan?

My wedding is around the corner and i will not be doing a spray tan. I thought about it months ago so I bought two tans at Hollywood Tans. They have the mystic tan- Here is the thing...for me, I went with the medium color and I did feel that it was a little orangey. I probably should have gone with the light. It completely stained my white sports bra but that was CLEARLY poor planning on my part. It will stain anything that you put on before you are dry- but lesson is...where "junky" clothes. The tan itself fades away, it does not come off after it is dry. Pros: It is safe, the color was developed in 4-6 hours and it really looked nice. Cons: it has an odor after it dries and you have no idea what it is going to look like for 6 hours. I had a dark tan around my toes an thumbs?! It was noticeable to me but apparently none of my coworkers noticed. The very first time i did it i had streaks up my forearms that you really can't scrub off (yes I tried) Oh wait, I didn't even address airbrush spray tan. NO complaints with this. If you are doing it for the big day I would suggest airbrush over the booth. You know the person doing it has done it to many people before (lets hope) and can guide exactly where the tan goes aka no streaks. Good luck!! (Sorry so long)

I did mystic tanning a couple years ago and didn't really like it. You get in the booth and it literally takes your breath away, it was hard to catch my breath without inhaling all the mist. Afterward if you don't towel off Fast the mist will drip down your legs and arms and leave streaks! I had streaks on the back of my legs and it did have a weird smell for a while. I showered the following morning and it didn't stain any of my clothing after I showered. I can't remember how long it lasted but I think it's too risky to do before a wedding unless you go a few times before hand and can perfect it.

Ive never tried airbrush but i'm sure it'd be more accurate.

I am against spray tan.  My Mom is a makeup artist, and she said that sometimes it can come up weird in pictures (makeup can't fix orange!), and it's probably best to ask (if you do have a makeup artist), just to apply bronzer to your face, shoulders, arms and back for a more natural look, or have someone dust it on for you.

If you are going to do it go to a place that will airbrush you by hand. As other knotties have said, Mystic tans get streaky and uneven.

Some makeup artists do airbrush tanning...I think Jessica Waite on Maui does.  If you're using her for bridal H&M, you could inquire about package pricing...

I saw this excellent blog post by Events by Evonne a long while back with some tanning tips (for tanning beds):
(Word of warning - if you're thinking of tanning beds, it's important to build up a base tan first)

Yeah,  I decided to chance it and go real tanning.  Mostly because I get horrible sun poisoning if I go to Hawaii without being as tan as possible - but also because I got a spray tan for my b-pics and it was nice, but I found a lot of spots that it missed or were 'spotty' afterwards.  I was just kind of disappointed with it after the fact.

I tried Mystic tan out this week and am not a fan.  It is seriously how they make fun on it in the movies and now I have some weird "tan lines". I am going to do tanning beds before our wedding. I will need a base anyway to keep from tanning. Another thing spray tans does not work to help with.

I used Jessica Waite for the airbrush tan and was thoroughly satisfied. It did not look orange at all. Jessica is fabulous and I used her for my make-up too! I tried out the airbrush tan the week before the wedding and then did it 2 days before also after I decided I liked the color. If you are nervous try it out the week before if you can because you can exfoliate it right off if you don't like it. It did not rub off on my clothes at all, but I also wouldn't test it out...I wear black the day I spray tan or airbrush tan anyways. It did not rub off on my dress at all either... If you want anymore details feel free to PM me with any questions ;)

Well ladies I went and got my airbrush tan and I was really happy with the outcome .. was being the key word .. half the color washed down the drain when I showered :(  I even waited a full 48 hours to shower to give it extra time to "set in".  So looks like I will be going the tanning bed route .. although I got a really good deal for 3 months worth so it all worked out!
