Ready to cry...

Church coordinator now tells me that while the church can accomodate 250 for the ceremony they don't have the stuff for that size reception so we need to rent bistro tables and chairs.  WTH?!?!?  Why, when I told her we would likely fill the church and the reception would be there, did she not think to tell me they couldn't accomodate us 100%?!?!   I could've budgeted it out in December but not 3 months out!

I've been pricing chairs and for the 200 we'd need so everyone can sit (they have about 50 we can use), it's almost $300.  Even figuring some people will stand I can't handle the amount.  Hoping I can find friends who attend a church who will let us borrow them but so far no luck.

Wonder if we should move the reception but to where....Cry

I'm so sorry!  I wish your coordinator responded to you faster (then you would have been better prepared EARLIER)!

Since you don't plan on serving alcohol (right?) you could have it at a park or community center.  What area is the church?  I'll start brainstorming for you cheap reception options to handle 250 guests.

Thanks!  The wedding is on Fox Island.  There is a community center there but they can't take the number.  I wanted the ceremony and reception at one place because my sister has both a quadraplegic daughter and my mom who is a paraplegic to travel with and it would be less stress on all of them.

At least it's a distraction from work, right?  Wink

    Totally!

Here is my first find: Nichols Community Center.  It is reserved at 8:00 am for a private event, but it doesn't say how long it will be.  Inside is going to be too small for 250, but the outside seems very large.  0-4 hours is $250 and 4-12 is $500.  There is also a security deposit of $500.

Finding a venue for 250 people is hard!  But I'm sure you already know that Wink

For Gig Harbor Parks I found this page:
    http://www.cityofgigharbor.net/page.php?id=699

I couldn't find any prices, but maybe one of those parks could be an option?  There are two emails listed for contacts.
