Good seamstress?

I have had my dress for over a year and finally brought it to the seamstress two days ago for my first fitting. I found out that she is unable to take the sides in because of the beading. I am in need of a second option ASAP! I'm getting married May 5th (107 days!) and praying that I won't need to buy a new dress! Can anybody recommend a seamstress with beadwork experience? I live in the Foxboro area. Thanks!!

Re: Good seamstress?

  • Who did you speak with the first time? I just don't want to recommend someone you've already talked to. :)
  • I went to a woman in Walpole who works out of her home. She has done many alterations for my family, but I guess this one stumped her! I was just reading reviews on Chris O'Hare. I might try her!

Chris gets awesome reviews here. :) ETA: Her work space is a bit chaotic to say the least. Just putting it out there, in case that sort of thing is bothersome to you, because I know it would be for me. :)

I worked with Maria at Sabella Couture in Boston and she was awesome. She's a total perfectionist and will tell you honestly what can and can't be done to a dress.
  • I used Chris O'Hare and she took in my dress 2+ sizes, including beading (my dress was from Running of the Brides). Definitely call her!

  • I got mine at RotB too! I have an appointment with Chris tomorrow. thanks!
  • My friend used the seamstress at Bride to Bride in Haverhill. She purchased a antique dress from them and wanted it changed compleatly. I think you can reach this seamsterss through them.
  • if you're willing to just step over the border into southern NH. Dolly Paradise (Dressmaking by Dolly) in Hudson, NH is exceptional. She MAKES wedding dresses by hand, so taking it in with beading, etc is easy for her. I have used her for bridesmaid dresses, cocktail dresses, and now my own wedding gown. She is wonderful to work with and very sweet.
