Wedding planner: Google
Dj venue: through the wedding planner
Cake florist: recommendations on TK
Judging by your SN and low post count, I hope you aren't a vendor. We run those out of town. With pitch forks.

So I just wanted to hear your opinions on things just to gain my personal knowledge! But I am not an established business and I am not advertising my business anywhere on this site. I got alot from other vendors, believe it or not. The venue manager gave us good recommedations for the florist and DJ; the DJ gave us good recommendations for a place to have the engagement party and rehearsal dinner and that venue hooked us up with the cake baker. The florist hooked us up with a framer who gave us a great discount on a display for the reception. Everything else was reviewed by family.
My cousin is a professional photographer and he's paying for his team to fly into the US to do my wedding and his reviews were awesome so no worries there. FMIL's best friend's husband is a certified celebrant ordained in NY.
I think vendors were the best reviewers since they want your business and they know the people they work with on a regular basis.
I work in the industry as a wedding photographer so some vendors are professional contacts.
Photographer- is my partner I photograph with
Videographer- is a guy we work with a lot
Dj- is a preferred vendor of the hall
Florist- is a florist we go to all the time
Cake- my sister is a pastry chef
Limo- recommended by our dj
Reception venue: recommended by a co-worker Chapel: at the college FI works for Officiant: recommended by the lady responsible for chapel bookings (officiant works at the college too) Photographer: friends of FI's parents Seamstress: recommended by another co-worker
My DJ, cake baker and flower supplier were all found through lots and lots of lengthy research and online recommendations. It kinda helped that there weren't many choices because of where we live.
My venue I drive by every day on my way to work. My caterer is not only a family friend, but owns our favorite cajun resturant in the area. My FI is a musician so the band is his buddies. The florist works with the lady who runs the venue. Cake will be from a local bakery that I go to occasionally.
We are using the photgrapher my cousin used. They gave us recs for a florist along with girls on my local board. I also found out about my DJ through my local board. My JOP was also the same guy my cousin used (my uncle works with him).
Photographer: Cousin's friend from HS, she referred her to me Dj: Bridal show Cake: Came with the venue Venue: We knew we wanted a hotel & went to different ones in the area, compared them. Florist: I contacted a florist from a bridal show that was booked on my date and she recommended our florist.
My photographer is a girl I grew up with. The florist and cake are both local. I live in a small town where everyone knows each other, so I wanted to make sure I went through all people I knew. DJ was from a wedding I've been too previously, he was really good. The venue itself we stumbled over doing a tour (it's at a farm).
My dj is my best friend's cousin. So she booked him as a gift. My photographer is my cousin. My baker is my best friend. My florist is a local florist I've always used whenever I needed flowers. I just happen to know a lot of talented people. But I did look around a lot for other things. I either used theknot or google. I found my caterer using the knot.
