Happy Thursday!

We're in the home stretch everyone!

I feel like I'm in the middle of a 24 hour crappy marathon.  Starting at about 9 pm, I got the message from my hairdresser sister that she wasn't going to do BM hair. That has a vent post of its own.  I woke up super late so I'm having to work from home before I head out into my sales territory.  I hate when that happens because I'm under the microscope for not coming into the office.  Not sure what will happen throughout the day but I start back in my Masters classes tonight.  I've been doing this part time program for almost 4 years.  They don't always offer everything I need so i've had a break for 9 months.  Its so hard to get back into gear.  Plus the idea of 3 hours from 6-9 every week sounds dreadful...especially with taking accounting this semester.

Hope everyone has a great day!  Spread some my way...You might as well call me Oscar the Grouch today...

    Happy Thursday!

Malea, from where are you taking classes?  What accounting do you have this semester?

People have started telling me they've received our invitations.  We've gotten mixed reactions, some people were expecting a much more traditional design, I think.  But oh well, I still love them, and I think they're a good reflection of our wedding.

Oh no, Malea!  I hate to hear that!  I hope you can find someone else quickly!!!  We are heading off to Charlotte today to meet with a new cake vendor.  Ours fell through the other week.  So, here we go again!

Leigh Anne, I meant to ask you; what happened with your cake?
  • edited December 2011
Who was your cake baker Leigh Anne as I don't want to meet with them in all my cake tastings next month?!  That's crummy that it fell through.

YAY for Thursdays.  Getting closer to the weekend!  I go to IOWA next week.  ugh.

I am taking classes at Wingate University.  They have a part-time MBA program that meets in Matthews.  I'm so part time I feel like I'm never going to finish...lol.

Its managerial accounting...math always gets me bent out of shape and 3 out of my last 4 classes are numbers : Accounting, Finance, Economics

I guess I didn't plan that out too well =)

Don't worry about the math!  There's so little real math in accounting.  If you can add, subtract, multiply and divide numbers up to 2 decimal places with a calculator, and take a percentage, that's all the math you'll need.  The calculator on your computer has more functionality than the one that can be used on the CPA exam.

Accounting is about putting the numbers in the right place and counting them at the right time.

Finance on the other hand, that's a bit more math.  A financial calculator will be your friend, once you figure it out, it's not too bad at all.

It's been a long time since I took managerial, but I do have Accounting and Finance experience.   If you need assistance, I may be able to be a little helpful.

Good to know...I may have to take you up on that...when I took accounting as an undergraduate 6 years ago (The class I met FI!) I went home about every other weekend to get help from my dad.  Unfortunately he is 8 hours away now...lol

Morning! Malea, sorry again about the drama!

I'm having a bit of my own at the moment- short story is my mother has decided she will not help us with the wedding, because she disagrees with some of the details that she's not paying for (Mary, our invites are more modern too and I love ours! And that's one of the things she hates...) but she didn't tell me until yesterday, in one long, irrational and confusing phone conversation. Seperate post though.

Chin up! Less than two months til I marry the man I love, and honestly, I could do it dressed in a paper bag in the middle of a rainstorm and as long as we were legally married in the end I would be the happiest girl in the world. (This is my new mantra.)

    Hope everyone's having a good almost-Friday day! :)

Way to stay positive!  My mom has said some borderline wacky things about most of everything I decided...My centerpieces aren't formal enough, my dress doesn't have enough "sparkle or lace", cupcakes are silly...we have to have a cake....OYYY!

At the end of the though you're right...you will be married to the one you love and none of it will matter =)

I met FI in accounting class too :)

It worked out great, every accounting class after that we just bought one book and shared.  No sense in us both buying a book that was outdated as soon as it was printed when we studied together all the time.
