HELP with Wedding Colors!!

Hi all,

My wedding colors are purple and gold. I just purchased my tablecloths for the reception and am having color issues. My venue has white wood folding chairs which we are going to have gold organza sashes on them. And we are having gold/ivory damask style linens. We will also be having gold charges. At this point I feel like we have so much gold, and we don't know how to incorporate the purple so that it does not look bad. I thought of having purple satin napkins and some purple in the centerpieces, but the room will probably feel dominated by gold. Can anyone give me advice as to how to incorporate more purple so my reception does not look like it is dominated by purple.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

    HI ItalianBride,
My colors were all the jewel tones, but a lot of gold and purple was used in my decor, done by the FABULOUS Kio Kreations.

Click the link to see all the colors. I did a textured gold tablecloth on my family table which I had instead of a head table. 45 people were seated at the family table.

We flanked the family table with 6 - 10 tops, those tables had navy linen, however, perhaps you could do your centerpieces in all purple flowers and that would balance the gold?

Kristen from kiokreations helped me with all of my decor, including my linen colors as well as all the florals. The room was stunning!!! My husband and I and all the guests were blown away by the decor.

I hope my pics give you some inspiration for your gold and purple color scheme.

Kristen also has thousands of pics of her florals on her website gallery which may provide some great inpsiration for you as I am sure she has many purple weddings there!

    Good Luck!

not sure if you have ever thought about uplighting...we looked into it because our reception is in a tent that is white and the linens are white as well. if we decide on the uplighting we can add a pink hue to the tent by placing the uplights around the perimeter of the tent...i have seen pictures of uplighting at our venue and it looks beautiful and totally changes the look of the room...purple uplights could be an option

We are also doing uplighting for our reception. It will add a great effect to your reception and not be over powering. You can use purple for that and will look stunning.

Thanks for the advice on lighting. However, I don't think lighting will work for our wedding. We have a very formal/ vintage/victorian theme and I feel like colored lighting would complement a more modern wedding.

Have you thought about having 1/2 and 1/2 for the table linens? We did a black and ivory vintage theme and 1/2 of our tables had black table cloths, while the other 1/2 had ivory. Then, they all had a variation of our centerpieces to tie it all together. Perhaps the place you are getting your linens has a similar print with more purple?

The purple napkins is a good idea. You could also see if you could find purple chargers similar to your gold ones and mix those in.

Purple ribbon around the centerpieces is another option

More purple tones in the flowers

purple table runner or table squares...

    purple votives...

Using more purple to package your favors and put those on each place setting...

    there's lots of options!
