In need of dress assistance and advice.

Hi fellow Cincinnati brides!  My mother is coming into town on the 28th to go dress shopping with me.  We have an appointment scheduled at European Bridal and plan on heading to Bridal and Formal *as soon* as they open on Saturday.  While I've heard mixed reviews of BF, I haven't heard too much about EB.  Any thoughts?

Also, I made the mistake of falling in love with this dress from LeSpose de Gio.

Now, unless I find $15,000 on the street, it isn't an option.  I've been googling until my eyes water, but I cannot seem to find a dress with similar sleeves/illusion neckline.  Is my only option a custom tailor or dressmaker?  If so, does anyone have anyone they could suggest?

Help?

Re: In need of dress assistance and advice.

  • I purchased my wedding dress from European Bridal. They werent overcrowded like some of the other shops around there and I thought the ladies were nice. The prices did seem to be a little higher than other stores, but I also thought the dress selection and quality was also better.

My only advice on the dress you have referenced above is this - if you havent tried on any dresses yet, KEEP AN OPEN MIND. You will be amazed at what you find you like and don't like once you start trying them on. I had looked at alot of dresses online and picked out a particular style that I loved. But once I started trying them on in the stores, I ended up liking and buying something TOTALLY different than what I thought I would get. So don't get bummed that you cant find that one particular dress bc there are probably many more than you will try on and fall in love with :)

    Have fun and good luck!

  • I went to the David's Bridal in Florence. I know some people have said they can be overcrowded, and that's very true. But I asked them when I scheduled when is the least crowded time on a weekend, as I was bringing my grandmother. Even when I went to look at BM dresses with my girls, I asked them their least busy night and went from there.

I loved it. My MOH went to BF to get her dress and they were really nice. My only complaint about them is that their building is really small so space is limited if you have more than 2 people coming with you.

I got my dress from European Bridal and they were great!  We went to the Reading bridal district on a Friday afternoon without any appointments.  We started at B&F and tried a few dresses on.  They were okay, but I was really overwhelmed because they pretty much just gave me a quick rundown of the store layout and then let me loose to look for dresses on my own.  I picked out a couple and tried them on but I knew none of them were the one.  We went across the street to European about 15 minutes before they closed.  We really just wanted to browse and then possibly schedule an appointment to come back the next day.  The lady that ended up helping us that night was great.  She asked what I was looking for and what styles I liked and she showed me several dresses that she recommended based on the styles I was leaning towards.  We told her that we knew they were closing in a few minutes so we could schedule an appointment for the next day so we wouldn't keep her late, but she insisted that we go ahead and look and try on any that I liked.  I think I picked out 5 and fell in love with one them.  It just so happened that the dress I picked out was one of the feature dresses that month, so I got like 20% off.  I was very impressed and happy with them and would highly recommend checking them out.  Unfortunately I can't remember the lasy who helped us since it was awhile ago.  I am thinking it was Joanne, but I could be wrong.

  • I think it would be fairly easy to find a white strapless gown that you love and have a seamstress add the top... I think it would be a rather easy and inexpensive addition.
That is the true season of love when we believe that we alone can love, that no one could have ever loved as much before, and that no one will ever love in the same way again
  • I purchased my dress from Fabulous Bridal in Covington as well as all of my Brides Maid dresses. They treated me like a queen when I went in- great service and might I add free champagne! haha even after purchasing my dress they kept in contact with me regarding anything else I needed as well as when I could expect my dress. They have a great selection of dresses in all different price ranges!

    I would def. recommend Fabulous

  • That is a gorgeous dress. I have had a hard time finding an alternative to the Rivini dress that I love. If you find that 15k on the street, let me know the street because I need to find it too...lol
  • Seems like there are a bunch of people struggling on whether or not to 'say yes to the dress' because its expensive. Maybe look into a seamstress who can make the top portion for you like a pp said. The dress is beautiful and unique. I hope you find it!

  • I had a great experience at European Bridal, but just to let you know, if you find a dress by their "Artistic Bridal" line, it's just a different label for Allure Bridal.  Do NOT pay their price.  Find it at another salon or get them to price match.  My friend found her dress there, and it was $1300.  However, the exact same dress under the Allure label was $675!
