How many stems?

I'm kind of a DIY-er, and I fully intent on buying wholesale flowers and doing all my bouquets and other flower-related things on my own.  I'm having a hard time figuring out how many stems I will need per bouquet, though.  If I want a 10-ish inch bouquet for me and 6-ish inch ones for my bridesmaids, how many stems should I include if I use gerber daisies?

In order to estimate how many flowers we'd need for our DIY bouquets, I did some trial runs with silk stems and then some fresh flowers from the grocery store. I would really suggest doing the same because it not only helps you to figure out how many flowers you should buy for your perfect bouquet, it also gives you great practice. It is worth the cost of doing the trial runs!

That sort of depends on what type of flowers you want.

Get some flowers for the grocery store and play with them a little like graysquirrel suggested.

I had 18 roses in my bouquet and it was huge.
