butterfly house qs?

Hi all!

We're considering the butterfly house for both ceremony and reception and had a couple of questions for people who have gotten married there or who are going to get married there.  First of all is there a place for the bride to get changed on site or do they come dressed? Second of all for the reception is this tent well lit or is that something that people usually do themselves? I feel like I might have seen a couple of pictures online and it was hard to tell what the lighting was like- last thing we want is our family and friends in a dark tent at night!

Thanks for your help! :)

Hi - I got married at the butterfly house in August 2009 and we loved it. We had our wedding and reception there. They have a classroom that they setup for the brides to change into their dress. I didn't want to get into a car in my dress and mess it up - so it worked out perfectly. The event manager was great and had a long mirror, a bridal kit and anything else you could think of!

If you want, I can email you pictures of the event, so you can see the lighting. We got so many compliements on the event and the guests loved going through the Butterfly house during the cocktail hour. It was definitely a unique and beautiful location.

First: Yes, there is a classroom in the learning center you can use, but be sure to remember to bring things (like cups, water bottles, lighted mirrors- whatever you think you'll need) that are commonly found in a hotel room or home but wouldn't be in a classroom.

Second: Some lighting is provided, but it isn't really great lighting.  I'd either do custom lighting or decor lighting.  My cousin used submersible tea lights in clear glass centerpieces with flowers and butterflies on top, and it really helped us appreciate the detail in the menus, food, and our (non-pro) pictures turn out better.
