XP: Wedding date bad luck?

What are your opininons on this?
We picked June 21, 2014 - basically I gave B a couple of dates and that's the one he chose.
I literally just found out that that is the day my parents got married on. Ordinarily I would think that this was good luck, but they divorced when I was two.
However they are still good friends and have a good relationship.

Do you think that this date would be a sign of bad luck because they are divorced?

Re: XP: Wedding date bad luck?

  • Only if you believe in that sort of thing.  I say go with what works for you and your FI.

  • If it bothers you, see about picking another date.  If it doesn't bother you, go for it.  If you didn't know that was your parents' wedding date, your friends and family likely won't either (or you can laugh it off if you do).  If they were able to be friendly in the long run, your parents lucked out more than a lot of divorced couples do!
Whoever said it was supposed to be happily ever after is a big fat liar.
  • its only bad luck if you make it bad luck.

He stole my heart, so I'm stealing his last name.
  • June 21st is my Birthday, and I'm pretty great...

So I vote not bad luck.
  • It's only bad luck if you make it bad luck. Don't sweat it.

    Congratulations!
  • I think it's a date. They probably aren't the only couple that ever got married on that date, and probably aren't the only couple to ever get divorced afterward.
Of course, I have 100% NO belief in "luck"... but seriously.. it's a date.. you can only pick between 365 of them.. so I'm pretty sure that any date you choose will be one that is "unlucky" for one thing or another.
  • I don't think it would be bad luck, get married whichever day you want that works for your FI and you.

  • I'm sure it's not unlucky, but would it hurt your parents' feelings or bring up bad memories on your special day?

  • There are only 365 days in a year (well, 366 this year), and something rotten has happened on every single one of them. But so has something wonderful. You make your own luck.

  • Thanks guys!
I really am a superstitious person so that's why I was wondering. I had thought my parents married on June 22 so I didn't think anything of it when B said June 21 until my mom said something. But I think that if out of 365 days, B picked that one, it must mean something. And I think it's a good something. Well, I hope. Thanks again guys!
