Seating arrangements?

How many of you ladies are having assigned seating? Part of me thinks it would be a hassle on all ends, but another part of me thinks it would be too informal? I wouldn't even know where to begin!

Re: Seating arrangements?

  • We're doing assigned tables so it's much easier. That way people won't be randomly wandering looking for a seat (takes me back to the school cafeteria days), but they can choose if they sit next to this person or that. It think it's much easier.

I am doing assigned tables also.
  • I am also going to do assigned tables, but not assigned seats.  I just want to make sure everyone has a spot.  I'm afraid if we don't assign tables, people will leave random seats empty which would make it awkward for the last people to find a place to sit.

  • Same here! You're keeping control of the situation while also giving people flexibility. Best of both worlds!

    This!!!  Smile
I've been to too many weddings where this has happened. Or because there are not enough seats left at one table sp they drag chairs over and crowd too many people around another!
  • Same as PP.  I don't see it worth the extra time on my part to assign seats.  Just tables.  People will naturally sit with who they know best at the table but don't see the point in restricting people to a certain seat.

  • I'm having a smallish wedding ( I guess maybe 75-80 will attend) and I've been planning on not doing assignements at all, just making sure that there is ample seating.  Do you gals really think that will be a problem? My reception is at an Irish pub so there will be tables of various sizes, which I think will help.

This is my situ exactly. We are inviting barely 100 and think probably 75 will show up, so we are letting people seat themselves wherever. A lot of it is because I do not have time to figure all that out, but also that people will sit with who they know, and if they don't know anyone they will sit where there is room. I mean, we had assigned tables for my cousin's wedding and even then we ended up sitting with random people so thats inevitable.
