Looking for Wedding Veneus in the Raleigh/Durham Area

Hi There--
I am a recently engaged bride to be that moved to the Raleigh/Durham area of NC about 2 months ago and although I have plenty of time to plan our wedding I would like to start getting ideas on locations to have my weding ceremony and reception.  I know of Duke Gardens and the Nasher Museum but wanted to see if any of new have other suggestions for locations in this area.

    A friend of mine is gettng married in Bay 7 at the American Tobacco Campus in Durham.  I think it's pretty fabulous!

    Thanks for the suggestions.  I just looked at Bay 7 web site and it does look pretty cool.

    As far as my budget i'm not too sure yet since I just got engaged but I do know i do want something that is reasonably affordable and not super expensive.  Just trying to get several ideas for places in the area.  I would say the venue needs to fit between 100 -150 people

    Any idea of the kind of venue or feel you are looking for?

    If you like Bay 7 you should also check out the Cotton Room it's close by and has the same feel to it. I really liked the idea of both of them but I was looking for something that was already more put together. The idea of a big empty space I would have to figure out how I wanted set up and decorated was too overwhelming for me, but would be ideal for others.

    I got married at Treyburn Country Club and loved it there. It's in North Durham so it is kind of out there. It has a really pretty outdoor space for the ceremony. For me it didn't feel like a stereotypical country club and we couldn't beat the price there.

    We also looked at the Double Tree hotel in RTP. They have a space on a lake that is nice and a climate controled tent set up outside for weddings. We liked the space but found the coordinator hard to get a hold of, but that could have been a 1 off thing.

    Oh I almost forgot one of our favorite places was 1705 Prime in Raleigh. It's a part of Rocky Top restuarants and catering. It was a really nice space with a unique lounge/ bar attached to the reception space. We didn't like the outside area where they do ceremonies as much as other places and we wanted to do a ceremony and reception at the same place.

    Some other places to look if you like Bay 7 is Artspace and Cobblestone Hall.  I'm not sure if Artspace can hold that many people.

    One place that I think would be a really cool venue is the new CAM downtown.  If modern's your thing that might be worth checking out.

    For something more traditional I think All Saints Chapel is great.

    We just booked with All Saint's Chapel and the Stockroom at 230. Our wedding is this October, so we can't rate it based on experience, but we loved the location and the staff who owns both locations has been really accomadting and super easy to work with.

    Awesome Triangle area venues:

    - The Stockroom (Raleigh)
    - The Cotton Room (Durham)
    - Cobblestone Hall (Raleigh)
    - Fearrington Village (Hillsborough/Chapel Hill)
    - 1705Prime (Raleigh)
    - Barn at Valhalla

    We are using Marbles Kids Museum. You can rent various parts of the museum, dependign on what you need. We are using the main lobby. It's a unique, cool venue that isn't terribly expensive.

    We are having the rehearsal dinner at the Stockroom, which is also neat.

    Natural Science and History museum are options too.

    I'm getting married at the Cotton Room in October, and I'm so excited! We also looked at Carolina Inn and Parizade before we made our choice.  Parizade's food is sooooo good - we decided to do our rehearsal there, but it would work for a wedding too!

    Bay 7 is where we will be having our reception most likely.  It is $3400 for 5 hours and holds up to 400 people.  That price does not include tables and chairs - you must rent those yourself.  Rocky Top is one of their approved caterers (but there are also like 40 others).  It is pricey but this is where we got engaged and its my fiance's one request so we are making it work. :)

    Cotton room is also really nice and the same feel - a little less for venue but I believe you must do food and drink through them.  There are some good venue options listed on southernbrideandgroom.com

    how much is the stockroom? my wedding is next yr in oct, do they allow your own catering or can you have family and friends bring the food?
