You have to start with Social Security. Go there first with a copy of your marriage license and your driver's license. Then they'll tell you the next step... it's usually wait two to three days before going to the DMV and then you can start changing everything else.

Don't worry, I was really confused at first too!  =)

It really is pretty simple though, and fast if there's not a ton of people there so you have to wait.

The SS office is really organized and quick.  It only took me about 10 minutes total, and then about 25 mins at the DMV to switch over my drivers license (24 hour minimum wait between so you will actually be changed over in the computer systems).  If they ask you if you want to keep your old one, say yes!  Or tell them that you want to keep it if they don't ask. It does make some things way easier if you can just show your old ID and your new one!

I've seen change your name kits, are they worth it?

I haven't ever seen one, but I don't see how they could be worth it.  The few things that you really have to do, you have to do in person.  The rest is just sending in forms and copies of things.  None of it is difficult or even time consuming, honestly.

I wouldn't waste money on anything so simple to do yourself.
