Honeymoon plans!!

Hey April 2012 brides!!!  My FI and I are trying to figure out where we would like to go on our honeymoon.  I thought it would be fun to see if any of you were doing the same!

My FI and I are getting married on April 14 in Pittsburgh; we'll probably go on our honeymoon from the 16th-23rd or so.  It's early to book anything but I love planning it out!! :)

We have always wanted to go to Europe.  We want to go somewhere where we can explore the area, do activities, sightsee, etc..  We don't want to just sit around at a resort for 7 days.  

We've been contemplating Italy (Amalfi Coast) or perhaps Greece.  While the weather will probably be in the mid-60s and sunny (although Amalfi right now is in the 70s!), it's actually the perfect temperature for what we want to do... and maybe still come back with a tan :)  

Where do you ladies plan on going?  What made you choose that location?  Cool

    haha ginny, we are such twins!  Also april 14 in pittsburgh, and also interested in europe for the HM

    I was thinking Greece/Turkey so we can do some relaxation, some exploring, but FI is thinking he just wants to sleep on the beach, so we're also thinking Hawaii.  We won't go until the summer though.

    Well we have honeymoon plans however we are doing our honeymoon on our 1 year anniversary. We have a ton going on after our wedding as our son has his bday and we have 2 kids in school. Soooo we plan to either go to Venice or will be going to one of the Sandals carribbean resorts on our 1 year.

    We're going to Greece! It's somehwere I have always wanted to go, and we also aren't the type to just sit on a beach all day. I can't wait to book it! I think we'll stay in Santorini and Mykonos.

    The Caribbean on a Carnival cruise! I have never been on one, but FI did for his senior trip in HS. He really didn't have anywhere particular in mind and we'd been trying to plan a cruise to the Bahamas as just a summer vacay, but never got around to it and finally decided just to go all out for the HM....we booked the biggest suite, we plan on going swimming with the dolphins, you name it. I'm stoked.

    We were planning a Tokyo HM. FI is obsessed with Japanese culture (and i don't mind it :3). But with all that's going on over there, plans have changed.

    At first we were thinking a Europe trip too (first it was Italy and France, then it was England and Ireland) but we're thinking that may be too expensive.

    So now talk is either Hawaii or Disney World (Land? Whichever one is in FL with the Harry Potter place [I'm practically obsessed with Harry Potter]). Neither of us have been to either, so it'll be an adventure either way. :D

    Brittany, did you hear about the Harry Potter cruise?!? I think it was Royal Caribbean, not sure. But yeah, everyone on board would be sorted and there'd be like different events for various houses and whatnot. I think it sails this summer? You should check it out!

    How cool, it looks like a lot of us will be in Europe! We will be going to Spain, France and Italy! I'm so excited! I wanted to go to a big city, and FI wanted to go to Italy, so this was our compromise :)

    Also, Harry Potter cruise?? I might have to run this by FI!

    Brittany, Have you thought about a cruise in Europe? Look at some on expedia or travelocity - they are really reasonable and a great way to see 2-4 countries in Europe!

    There's a HARRY POTTER CRUISE! HOW have I missed this?! -researches-

    dtronol - I feel kinda dumb...I didn't even think of that! Lol. Been so wrapped up in the actual wedding planning. I'll have to mention it to FI. I'm trying to leave the honeymoon for him to do. (it's not working out well, I'm kind of a control freak. and it doesn't help that he keeps asking me things)

    We won't be going on our honeymoon until a week and a half after the wedding, so the weekend of the wedding we'll probably spend a couple of days at Cape May. For our actual honeymoon we're going to Riviera Maya in Mexico - we'll probably be at one of the all-inclusives. I was in Mexico in 2009 and I'm really hoping we can stay where I stayed before - the Grand Sirenis- it was beautiful. We'll probably stay for about 8 days or so.

    Ahhh maybe that was it. One of my friends goes on like 4 cruises a year told me she heard about it a while back so that may be what happened. LAME.

    We're planning on going to Rome, because that's where we met :). But a Harry Potter cruise sounds pretty incredible--- I honestly don't think that FI would care, as long as we went someplace warm!!! We're still in the very early planning stages. Rome is super expensive, but since FI speaks fluent Italian we wouldn't need to spend money on language software, and we're just romantic enough to want to have our honeymoon in the place where we met :).

    Disney World is the one in FL. But Harry Potter isn't at Disney, it's at Universal Studios.

    We're hoping to go to Costa Rica, probably on the 23rd (the Monday after the wedding).  I feel like if we don't do it right after life will get in the way and it will never happen.  I can't wait to see the Rainforest.... and enjoy some all-inclusive cocktails :)

    We would love to go to Italy, but money-wise it might not be doable after paying for a wedding. So we've also been talking about doing New York (I've never been there and FI has only passed through). In doing research, though, New York hotels are so expensive that it seems like it wouldn't be all that much more to do Italy!

    We are leaning towards a 12 day Royal Caribbean European cruise that starts in Barcelona and goes to France, Italy, and Croatia. We are probably going to go on our honeymoon 3 weeks after the wedding since FI will be graduating with his masters 2 weeks after our wedding and I will still be in school working on my PhD. We are so excited but still looking at our options!

    We are going to the Domincan Republic.  There is an all inclusive resort with private villas, jacuzzis, and its all inclusive with 8 restaurants.  I'm delighted and we booked so early that the whole thing (allegedly including flight) will be around 2k  for a week!!!!    YAY

    We will have a 2 part honeymoon. His half is a week in Puerto Rico right after the wedding. Then we head to NYC for my sisters wedding. After her day we will be flying to Paris for a week for my half :). Busy month for us!

    I took my FI to The Bahamas for his bday this past Sept (thats where he proposed to me) and I took him to swim with the dolphins at Dolphin Cay Atlantis, and it was AMAZING!!! So much fun!!

    I actually won a honeymoon to either Mexico, Bahamas, or Dominican Republic at a bridal show! Since we already have been (separately) to Mexico, and went to Bahamas last year, we are going to DR!! I am soo excited because I have always wanted to go there! All we have to pay for is our flights to and from!
