Question about room blocks and accomodations in downtown los angeles?

Hi Knotties, Has anyone set room blocks for out of town guests? If so how does this work? Do you pay upfront?

any feedback is appreciated ;)

My wedding was in Florida but I looked on Hotels.com to see customer reviews.  I then called the top ones that were the closest to the venue.  I told them my dates and the number of rooms that I would like and asked for their best price.  After calling all the ones I wanted I narrowed it down to three and then called back and haggled the price down even more.  The top two best prices were the ones I went with.

There were ones that said I needed to guarantee the number of rooms and they were quickly dropped from the list so be prepared for that (if you didn't fill the rooms you had to pay for them or a percentage of the cost).  I also made sure there wasn't a minimum night stay incase guests only wanted to stay the night of.

    Good luck and happy planning.
