Re: Na

  • What company are you using?
  • Tell him too bad.  He works for YOU, and you only want a DJ now.  End of story.  Just be a little firm with him.  Don't be rude, but be firm.  And I repeat - your vendors work for YOU, and YOU are in charge.

And btw, "he changed his whole schedule?"  What the heck does that have to do with anything?  He should be bending over backwards to make you happy.

I'm kind of curious who it is...

Hmmm... I understand how you're feeling.  At the same time, many vendors have a cancellation period, and if your wedding is in less than 2 months, that's pretty soon.  It sounds like poor communication on their part, but it may just be that they're trying to express that they're booked and now going to lose potential money that they could have made elsewhere, since you're changing your mind at the last second.  For some reason it often seems to be the DJs that have horrible communication skills... I don't know what it is about so many of them being so rude.  Do you have a written contract with them?  Does it say anything about changing/cancelling services?

Is it the money or actually having an MC that's bothering you?  If it's just the MC, then there's no reason why you can't just pay them the full amount that you are contracted for and tell them that you just don't want the MC.  I don't see why they can have any problem with that when they're still getting paid for the full contracted amount.  If it's the money, I think they're being generous by trying to work with you on the cost by lowering the MC amount this late in the game. (This is all assuming that you're contractually bound to the MC & DJ already without being able to change it... if your contract says you can still change those things, then tough $h!t... they'll have to deal with your changes whether they like it or not.)

I know it feels personal because it is for you, but from their perspective it's their business and livelihood.  Some DJs book out years in advance because they're in such high demand, so having someone reduce services at the last seconds is a loss of money in their eyes.  I'm sure that doesn't help you feel better about it, but it's understandable.

I think you just need to step back and try not to take it personally.  Try to be really clear and concise in your communications with them from here on out, and hopefully you can both come to an agreement that you're comfortable with.  Good luck!

  • Im curious as to who you are using as well?  I've been having problems with my DJ getting back to me about setting up our final appointment (we have a DJ and MC as well).

I think you have every right to tell them you only want a DJ now. But, I would check your contract with them first.  If you signed a contract stating that you are paying for a DJ and an MC you may have problems with that. So, if you have to pay for them anyways, you should just keep them.

    Good Luck!

[QUOTE]Currently, we are using RJ the DJ. We do have a contract and after reading it over 5 times, it doesn't say anywhere that we can not change our package. It doesn't even list the package name. It only says the cost of it.  The only thing it says is that if you cancel 60 or less before the event you lose the deposit, which is $400.  I called Powerstation Events in Cheshire today, and they still have a few DJs available for our date. They have like 19 DJs that work for them. We are meeting with them on Monday and we actually get to see vidoes of the DJs at work. <strong>They seem very nice there. Has ever went to a wedding they did or used them?

We used David Rossi from Powerstation Events as our DJ. He did a great job! We also used them for our uplighting and enjoyed working with them.  They were very nice and accomodating throughout the planning process.

  • We had also met with powerstation.  We almost went with Dwayne but in the end went with another company that was having a sale promotion.  They were really nice though and it is cool to see all the videos!
  • So glad everything worked out and that you found a DJ you're comfortable and happy with!  :)
