Photography recs - Charlotte

Hi lovely ladies! Happy Friday :)

I am doing some major planning this wknd! What are the board faves for photographers? I am not sure what wedding photographers do/don't do, but here are some things I am looking for:

-I want moments, not pictures; other than the standard bridal party pics, I don't want anything staged.

-I am looking for a photographer that will not interrupt me during the reception- someone who knows I trust their skill and expertise, and someone that will just capture the day for me, instead of stopping to pose me, etc.

-budget- to be honest, I do not know what a typical wedding photographer costs. I guess something around $2000 would be ideal, but I am willing to make other cuts to have the best :)

any advice/recs are appreciated! let me know if there are other criteria i am missing- thank you!

    The Schultzes.  They are a board favorite and are simply amazing.  I used them and am anxiously waiting for my wedding pictures.  It's not posed, they capture the moments and they don't interrupt.  They are just so sweet and so talented!  Definitely look into using them.

    I love Fort Mill Photography, I can't say enough good things about them!!  It's a husband and wife duo and they are just so sweet and I love their work.  As far as price they are pretty reasonable.  Our cost is a little more than you stated, but we also schedule them for our engagement session which cost a little extra.  Good Luck!

    I would splurge on Bella Loren Photography!  They are really down to earth and describe everything you are stating.  If you are budget conscience...Providence Photography is $2600 for 8 hours with two photographers plus three total albums (one for you and two parent albums).  Going under your budget is Middle Gray Photography (one woman show).  She spends at least 30 hours on your photos after your wedding.  I agree that Fort Mill Photography is very reasonable and has beautiful photos ($2800 range).  Christopher Record is the premiere photojournalist in Charlotte and his prices start at $3200 per his website.  Cunningham Photo Artists are another husband/wife team and are priced near Record.  My sister used Tuesday's Frog who are based out of Asheville but their work was stunning and very friendly couple.  I only knew they were there during the family portraits.  I think they were around $3000.

    All You Can Treat (the candy buffett) have two other recommendations on their site and they seemed pretty affordable.

    Good luck...I just made my decision to go with Bella Loren this week and that has definitely been a load off my planning plate!!  Now on to cake tastings...woohoo!!

    Let me know if you want any package details that I received during my search.  I saw at least 10 photographers including Agie Photography, Catch Light Studio, Indigo, and Tommy McCart.

    I'm using Candice Davis Photography.  She is fabulous, professional and creative.  Her husband and her do a fabulous job with photography.  I can't wait for them to photography my wedding.  They did my e-pics about 2 months ago and they were just wonderful!  She offers a great affordable package and her prices per copies of photos are unbeatable.  She also automatically includes your rights to your photos on DVD.  http://www.candicedavisphotography.com

    ETA:  I had my engagement pictures back in about 2 days...she's extremely quick at getting them all put together and ready to go!

    I'm using Derek Boston at www.bostonperspective.com His prices are reasonable and the package I chose is just over your budget but includes bridals.  He's the nicest guy and is totally in the background, he'll only pose you if you want that shot.

    We used The Schultzes and so have many of our friends since. Everyone is over the moon with the product. We feel it such a blessing to have so many of the raw moments caught on camera by her and Geoff. She gives you everything you said was important to you, and a million times more. But they will be a good bit over that budget... I highly recommend you look into them if you really are willing to splurge on photography. And check with them asap as they book out pretty far in advance as well.

    Check out Dana Arndt.  She is awesome and will not interrupt.  She and her sister(she's a photographer too) are doing our wedding for just under 2000.

    I have not gone through the wedding day yet but I just interviewed with Ross Clodfelter from F5 photography out of Winston.  He seems down to earth and I liked his artist spin on the in the moment shots.  I'm getting married near Charlotte and there is no travel fee--Moorseville.  It will be 2K for all day coverage for 2 photogs.  I have no clue how he will be in the wedding since I'm not married yet but I'm hoping for good results.  He was highly reccomended by our orginal pick of photogs but they were booked. GL this was one of the most important things to me too!

    Darren of D&J Photography in clt is great too.  He is great with off camera lighting and retouching and his pricing is great :)
